Wonder Woman in Hollywood
Steve Trevor is sent to Hollywood by General Blankenship who wants him to be one of a few war heroes to appear in a war movie. Diana Prince goes with Steve. She doesn't have much to do while Steve is busy but she saves Steve from a lighting rig that almost falls on him. She also rescues Corporal Ames, one of the other war heroes who almost gets kidnapped.
Drusilla, Diana's sister, is sent by the Queen to get Diana to return to Paradise Island for the upcoming bi-millennial celebration. Dru arrives just in time to see Wonder Woman rescue Corporal Ames.
Diana, Dru, Steve, and Corporal Ames go to a party thrown by the film's producer, Mark Bremer. There they meet two more war heroes who are scheduled to be in the movie: Lieutenant Bill Rand (US Navy) and Sergeant Harry Willard (US Marine Corps). Lieutenant Rand gets kidnapped during the party and Mark Bremer is revealed to be a Nazi, but only to the audience.
Sgt Willard disappears the next day after filming a scene for the movie. Steve and Cpl Ames are kidnapped the day after that. All four are held captive in preparation for shipping them to Germany, where they will stand trial.
Diana Prince does some investigating and finds Gloria, an actress who helped the Nazis capture Steve and the other war heroes. Wonder Woman and Wonder Girl use that information to help them find and rescue Steve and the other war heroes from the Nazis.
Thoughts
One thing that stood out to me as being historically inaccurate was that Sgt Willard (USMC) was filmed fighting Nazis but during World War II the Marines fought the Japanese in the Pacific Theater of Operations, not the Germans.
This is the last episode of the first season. There are two more seasons but the show changed venues in more ways than one in the second season.
The first season aired on ABC but the second and third seasons aired on CBS. The title of the show was changed to The New Adventures of Wonder Woman for the second and third seasons. The first season took place during 1941-42 but the third and fourth seasons took place in the late 1970s.
This was a decent episode. It didn't blow me away with greatness but it was fun. I hope to one day return to this show give season 2 a try but I'm not sure when that will happen. I'm glad I gave this season a watch.
Notes
Debra Winger returns to play Drusilla for the third and final time. Carolyn Jones returns to play Queen Hippolyta for the third and final time.
Robert Hays played the part of Corporal Jim Ames. I know him best from Airplane! (1980) and Airplane II: The Sequel (1982). He played the part of Ted Striker in both movies.
Harris Yulin played the part of Mark Bremer. I saw him earlier this year in an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1.18 Duet) and in Night Moves (1975).
