Better Call Saul 6.07

Plan and Execution

Lalo keeps an eye on the building above the future meth lab. Jimmy, Kim, the actor, and the camera crew work double time to redo the work they did before but this time with the actor with his arm in a sling just like the real judge.

Jimmy gives the photographs, of what looks like the judge accepting a payoff from Jimmy, to Howard’s private investigator. The P.I. gives the pictures to Howard who doesn’t recognize the judge but asks the P.I. to figure out who it is.

Howard gets ready for the meeting for the Sandpiper case. He is stunned when the mediator turns out to be the person in the picture accepting a payoff from Jimmy. He accuses the judge, in the middle of the mediation meeting, of accepting a bribe from Jimmy. He has assistant get the pictures off his desk but they aren’t what he saw before. The judge isn’t in the pictures. He tries calling the P.I. but he gets a ring tone that indicates that the phone number is out of service.

The judge walks out. The sandpiper team walks out. They tell Cliff Davis that they are going back to their previous offer. Cliff tries talking sense to Howard. In the end Howard accepts the offer that is on the table.

Lalo keeps the laundry above the future meth lab under surveillance. He shoots a video for Don Eladio. He calls Uncle Hector to let him know how things are going and what he’s about to do. Hector is violently opposed to Lalo’s plan. Lalo reconsiders.

Mike is on to Lalo. They have his phone tapped. He warns Gus and convinces him to go home.

Jimmy and Kim are at home watching a movie and drinking wine when someone knocks on the door. It’s Howard. Jimmy lets him in. Howard is understandably not in a good mood. He rants for a while. Jimmy and Kim play dumb. Howard is not impressed by their act but then Lalo walks in.

Thoughts

I don’t understand how they did it. How did they switch the pictures? I understand that Howard was drugged but that can't explain him seeing something so specific.

Good episode, solid cliffhanger, and very appropriate title for the episode.

Do I pause here or do I keep watching? I'm tempted to take a break. When the show aired they took a break that lasted a little over 2 months between episodes 7 and 8. I'm sure I can find something else to watch to fill the gap and come back to Better Call Saul in late February.
