Star Trek: The Next Generation 4.02

Family

The Enterprise remains in orbit around Earth while it undergoes repairs. Captain Picard prepares for a trip to his home village. Worf learns that his adoptive parents will be visiting him aboard the Enterprise.

Worf’s parents beam aboard the Enterprise and waste no time in embarrassing him. Jean-Luc meets his nephew Rene and sister-in-law Marie for the first time. His brother Robert isn’t as welcoming as his wife and son are.

Worf takes his parents to Engineering where Geordi gives them a tour. They embarrass him by telling stories about what he was like as a child. Old arguments emerge at dinner between Jean-Luc and Robert.

Guinan talks to Worf’s parents. Jean-Luc talks to his friend Louis and considers leaving the Enterprise to take a job on Earth.

Worf tells his parents that he feared seeing them again. Jean-Luc gets into an arguments with Robert that leads to a fist fight. Jean-Luc breaks down and starts crying, after the fight, when he recalls what the Borg did to him and made him do.

Dr. Crusher gives Wesley a recording that his father made for him when he was just a couple months old. He programs the Holodeck to play it for him. Captain Picard says goodbye to Robert, Marie, and Rene and returns to the Enterprise. Worf’s parents say goodbye to Worf and return to Earth.

Thoughts

I might have seen this episode before but I’m not certain of that fact.

Halfway through this episode I wasn’t feeling it but by the end I was quite glad that I watched it. This episode had some very heartfelt moments in the last 15 minutes.
