Point and Shoot
The episode opens by the beach. Howard's shoes are there along with a few other belongings and his car. There is no sign of Howard's body
Lalo tells Saul and Kim to sit down, calm down, and listen to him. Lalo wants to send Saul to kill someone. Someone with dark skin and who wears glasses. He wants him to take pictures of the dead body and then return. He gives him one hour to do it. Saul begs and pleads and ultimately convinces Lalo to send Kim instead. Kim is horrified by the idea, she protests but Lalo agrees that she would look less suspicious than Saul.
Kim takes the car keys and the hand written directions. She finds the car and drives to the address. Lalo takes Saul's car and, after tying him to a chair, he leaves. Kim finds the gun and the camera in the glove compartment. She walks up to the house. Kim is ready to do it but Mike and his assistants stop her. Mike questions her before going to have a talk with Gus.
Mike leaves a couple of his men at Gus's place, tells Gus to stay put, and then takes the rest of his men to the McGill residence. They break in and find Jimmy tied up. He tells Mike what he knows.
Lalo heads to the laundromat in Saul's car. He breaks in and waits for Gus, who shows up with his two bodyguards. Lalo gets the drop on them and kills the bodyguards. He pulls out a video camera and films a video for Don Eladio as he forces Gus to show him the secret area beneath the laundromat. Gus manages to delay Lalo long enough for him to get to the gun he hid down there. Many shots are fired. Gus is wounded. Lalo is killed.
Jimmy and Kim are reunited at their place. Mike tells them what they need to know: Lalo is not coming back and Howard's body will never be found. He tells them to get ready and proceed with their day as if nothing unusual has happened.
Mike goes to the laundromat. He watches as they bury Lalo and Howard together in a hole beneath the future meth lab.
Thoughts
I didn't think that Lalo really expected either Jimmy or Kim to complete the job he gave first him and then her. I saw it for what it was meant to be, a distraction. I wasn't sure what he had planned beyond that.
This was an intense episode. It was a crazy way to begin the final six episodes of the show. Perfect? No, but it was pretty damn good.
There were more details that I could have written about but I think I captured the most important parts of this episode.
What comes next? Nacho, Howard, and Lalo are all dead. It feels like most of the big important things are wrapped up. I suppose that there will be some inquiries into Howard's disappearance. Jimmy and Kim have their instructions from Mike as to how to handle themselves.
