Form and Void
Marty interrogates Steve Geraci, after showing him the videotape that he showed Marty in the previous episode. They learn from him that his predecessor, Sheriff Childress, is the one who buried the Fontenot case.
Rust and Marty continue to work the case. Their work leads them to an old house in the middle of nowhere. Marty checks the house. The only person inside is a woman. He wants to use their phone but it doesn't work.
Rust looks around the grounds. He spots the man with the scarred face. The man takes off running. Rust follows him into a building buried by nature. Rust eventually catches up to him but the scarred face man gets the drop on Rust, almost kills him. Marty who by then has gone looking for Rust, shows up, distracts the man with the scarred face. Marty almost gets killed but Rust recovers in time to shoot the man in the head.
Rust and Marty survive. Marty is reunited with his ex-wife and their daughters. Rust is a bit disappointed to have survived. He thought he was going to be able to move on and be reunited with his daughter and his father.
Thoughts
The first 24 minutes of this episode take place before Marty and Rust arrive at the house. The part that takes place in and around the house lasts about 16 minutes. The last 15 minutes take place at the hospital.
They really made a lot of progress from the time that they left Steve until they arrived at the house.
There are some extras on the DVD set that I borrowed from the library. Each episode has a 3 to 4 minutes look inside with the director and creator of the show. The third disc has at least 40 minutes of additional extras.
I like this show but I don't love it. I think it gets a little too hand wavy with the mystical elements. I will probably give the second season a try some day but I'm not chomping at the bit.
