Better Call Saul 6.09

Fun and Games

The episode opens with a montage showing Jimmy and Kim moving on with their lives and Mike and his men cleaning up the messy apartment to remove all evidence of what happened there.

Gus meets with Don Eladio, Don Bolsa, and Don Hector, and the twins. Hector claims that Lalo survived the attack on his home in Mexico and that he talked to him. The evidence says otherwise. The twins didn't overhear the conversation with Lalo so they cannot corroborate Hector's version of the truth. Don Eladio assumes that Hector just wants to blame someone and lets Gus leave.

Mike goes to see Nacho's father. Mike tells him that Nacho will never be found but that justice will be done. Hector's father calls Mike a gangster, says he's had enough of gangsters, and walks away.
Jimmy and Kim go to a reception at HHM, held in memory of Howard. Cheryl, Howard's widow, questions Jimmy and Kim about the last time they saw him. Cheryl refuses to believe that Howard had a drug problem. Jimmy and Kim stick to their story.

Kim, decides, after the reception that she's had enough. She quits being a lawyer and leaves Jimmy. He does not take it very well.

The episode ends with a series of scenes that take place sometime after the rest of the episode. Kim is no where to found. Jimmy looks like he did during Breaking Bad.

Thoughts

The scene at the reception was very dark, especially the part with Cheryl. I knew Kim had made her decision when she kissed Jimmy in the parking garage. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to put the pieces together.

I know a little bit about what's coming next (from preview images I have seen for the four remaining episodes) but not everything. This could be the end of the series except for the fact that they have not wrapped up the Gene storyline.

This was a very well put together episode but it didn't move me in the way the last couple did. There were, of course, no big explosive moments. That probably has something to do with how I feel about this episode. On the whole it felt like the epilogue to this part of the story.
