Episode VIII

The Bulls played the Charlotte Hornets in the second round of the 1998 NBA playoffs. The Bulls won the first game by 13 but the Hornets came back and won the second game by 2. They make a big deal in the episode about how BJ Armstrong, who was playing at the time for the Hornets, was the key to them winning the game but he attempted 8 shots and hit four of them. He did not lead his team in scoring.

They make a lot in this episode about how BJ Armstrong's game winning shot motivated Michael. I think they spend too much time on talking about it. It feels like filler, especially as this topic comes up on a regular basis, how Jordan was motivated to play harder by x, y, or z.

The Leeches

Warren Doneghan, the owner of Jet Age Electronics (JAE), hires David Vincent to help him. Several other big name scientists have disappeared. Doneghan fears that he is next and that the aliens that David speaks of are behind the scheme. David encourages Warren to allow himself to be kidnapped.

To Save Us All from Satan's Power

Christmas is coming. Pussy used to play Santa Claus at the party that they would throw for the neighborhood kids. They have to find someone else to play the part. Silvio and Paulie suggest that Tony should do it but he says no. Bobby winds up getting the job, against his will.

Tony has a few flashbacks to 1995. Jackie Aprile was still around, running the show. Pussy was already compromised but they didn't know, at the time. He was sent to Boca Raton to broker a meeting between Uncle Junior and Jackie. Tony realizes in retrospect that all Pussy's excuses at the time were cover ups for meetings he was probably having with FBI agents.

Andrea, the efficiency expert, makes everyone take a polygraph test. Lisa has something to hide, a criminal record.

Mr. James invites Dave to a reading of his book which is a big hit in Japan. He's had it translated back into English but he doesn't get a chance to proof the retranslated book before the reading.

Thoughts

Dave Allen, whom I know best for his role as the guidance counselor on Freaks and Geeks, plays an employee of the book store. He also shows up in an episode from season 5.

Chapter II

Reggie pressures Joelle to make a public statement about their relationship. She does and then he proceeds to avoid her for a couple days. He hibernates in his room and plays video games. She needs his help working on the by-laws for the Black Caucus but he stays away until it is too late to help out.

Aftershock

Virgil and Richie run into Francis, unexpectedly, and discover that he too has developed super powers. Francis' powers allow him to genereate and throw flames. Virgil changes into Static and takes on Francis, who doesn't have a uniform but calls himself Hot Streak. Static is losing the fight when some firemen step in and hose Hot Streak down.

Ronald Kornblow (Grouncho) is hired to replace the murdered manager of a hotel in Casablanca. He spends most of his time chasing after Bea (Lisette Verea) who is working for Stubel (Sig Ruman), a Nazi. Rusty (Harpo) and Corbaccio (Chico) keep Kornblow out of trouble and spend their spare time searching for the stolen treasures that are rumored to be hidden in the hotel. Stubel decides that Kornblow needs to be killed and gets Bea to set a trap for him.
