Buddy Bickford, television star, comes to Fort Baxter to get some ideas for his next TV show. Bilko tries to sell him an idea he got from another soldier but Bickford thinks his own ideas are better. Bilko tricks Bickford into thinking that he has lost his touch and that what he needs is the script Bilko is trying to sell him
Thoughts
Bilko makes a passing remark about a TV show about a New York City bus driver. He must be referring to the Honeymooners although the show isn't mentioned by name.
I like the set up and the intention behind this idea but it didn't feel very well paced. It ended abruptly and in such a way that made me feel like they had to cut it short because they had run out of runway.
Buddy Bickford is played by Danny Dayton. This is his second of six appearances on the show. In his previous appearance he played a different character. The same is true for his four other appearances on the show but he plays the same character on all four of those episodes. Dayton had a recurring role on All in the Family and Archie Bunker's Place from 1976-1980. He appeared in 26 episodes on the two shows, combined. He made numerous guest appearances on TV shows including Get Smart, Columbo, Wonder Woman, and The Incredible Hulk. He was also in a few movies including Guys and Dolls (1955) and Ed Wood (1994).
