Adventure Time 4.26

The Lich

Finn has a nightmare about Billy. He tells Jake about the dream and then they go to see Billy. Finn and Jake join Billy on a quest for all the gems of power. They get them and unlock the power of the Enchiridion only to discover that Billy is actually the Lich.

The Enchiridion opens a portal. Princess Bubblegum warns them that the Lich must not be allowed to step through the portal. Finn and Jake grab the Lich but are unable to stop him from passing through the portal. 

The episode ends with Finn and Jake waking up looking a little different. They are near a barn and someone is calling for them.

Adventure Time 4.25

I Remember You

Ice King wants to write a song to help win him a princess. He visits Marceline in the hopes that she will help him to write it. Finn and Jake watch from a distance confused by what is going on between Ice King and Marceline.

Thoughts

Marceline and Ice King have a past. I think this might be the first time it has been mentioned. He helped her out ages ago. She was a little girl at the time. He was much younger, thinner, and looked different. His first name is Simon.

This was interesting episode. It wasn't as funny as some others but I like it.

Adventure Time 4.24

Reign of Gunters

Gunter steals the Ice King's demonic wishing eye and fools the Ice King into thinking that he lost it himself. Ice King goes to Wizard City to get another demonic wishing eye while Gunter makes hundreds of copies of himself and runs roughshod over Jake and Finn's home and the Candy Kingdom.

Thoughts

This was fun. Gunter seems unstoppable until the Ice King arrives in the Candy Kingdom towards the end of the episode.

Adventure Time 4.22

Ignition Point

Finn and Jake offer to get the scented candles that Flame Princess left behind in the Fire Kingdom. They sneak into her bedroom in the Fire Palace. They discover, as they are grabbing the scented candles, that there is a plot to kill the Flame King.

Finn and Jake decide that they must stop the plot from succeeding before they depart the Fire Kingdom.

Thoughts

The plot to kill the Flame King resembles the plot to kill Hamlet's father in the play by William Shakespeare.

This was fun and not too crazy or weird.

Adventure Time 4.23

The Hard Easy

Finn and Jake help some mud scamps who are scared of a mega frog that has been attacking them. They hunt in the swamp for the mega frog but it finds them. It follows them into a cave where Finn figures out what the mega frog needs.

Thoughts

I love the scene where Finn and Jake try to get a fire started by rubbing sticks together.

This was a less weird than many episodes.

Adventure Time 4.20

You Made Me

The Earl of Lemongrab is acting creepy. Princess Bubblegum hires the Pup gang to stay with him, keep him company but he locks them up and returns to him creepy ways. Princess Bubblegum, Finn, and Jake visit his castle. She makes a new friend for Lemongrab, while Finn and Jake are trying to rescue the Pup Gang from the dungeon.

Thoughts

This episode isn't quite as weird as some other episode but it is still out there.

Adventure Time 4.19

Lady & Peebles

Princess Bubblegum goes on a quest to find Finn and Jake. They have been missing for three weeks and were last seen battling Ice King. Lady Rainicorn accompanies PBG on her quest but when Lady R is knocked out of the fight it is up to Princess Bubblegum to get to the bottom of the mystery.

Thoughts

This was pretty good but insanely weird.

Adventure Time 4.21

Who Would Win

Jake and Finn decide that they must train so they can defeat The Farm, a champion fighter. Jake doesn't take the training seriously. Finn gets angry at him and they get into a fight. Jake gets angry at Finn because he breaks his portable gaming device.

Finn and Jake get worn out fighting each other and pass out. They experience a shared dream in which they are given the key to defeating The Farm.

Thoughts

The Farm is a huge guy who wears a barn as his only article of clothing.

This was fun.

Adventure Time 4.18

King Worm

Finn gets stuck in a dream that is controlled by King Worm. He struggles to figure out how to break free of the dream. 

Thoughts

This is one of those really weird episodes. I could describe it all but it wouldn't make any more sense if I did. Jake is in a fair amount of this episode but for at least part of the time it is a dream version of Jake.

Adventure Time 4.17

BMO Noire

BMO looks for Finn's missing sock while Finn and Jake are away.

Most of this episode is in black and white or maybe sepia tones. Only the scenes that include Finn and Jake are in color. The voices for all the characters other than Finn and Jake are voiced by BMO or at least the same actor as BMO.

This was weird. I like how it parodies film noir but after a point I got very confused and started to lose interest.

Adventure Time 4.16

Burning Love

Finn has the hots for Flame Princess. Jake encourages Finn to pursue Flame Princess. Bubblegum Princess fears what will happen if Finn kisses Flame Princess. Jake thinks that BP still has the hots for Finn even though she rejected him in the past.

Thoughts

I found the story in this episode to be a little lacking but I like the character interactions.

Adventure Time 4.15

Sons of Mars

Magic Man, a criminal from Mars, uses his abilities to make himself look like Jake (and Jake look like him) in order to evade capture by the Martian authorities. Finn travels to Mars to save Jake before he gets executed in Magic Man's place.

Thoughts

This episode was lots of fun and kind of crazy. I like it very much.

Adventure Time 4.14

Card Wars

Jake is down in the dumps because no one will play Card Wars with him. Finn offers to play a game. Jake is ready to beat Finn really badly but Finn turns out to be really good at the game.

Thoughts

I liked how crazy the mechanics of what was supposed to be a card game turned out to be. I also liked how crazy the stakes of the game got to be once Finn realized how seriously Jake was taking the game.

This was a fun episode.

Adventure Time 4.13

Princess Cookie

Baby Snaps, a cookie, holds several others hostage. Baby Snaps wants Princess Bubblegum's crown because he wants to be a princess. She refuses to give it to him. Finn and Jake sneak in and are supposed to capture him but Jake changes his mind after talking to Baby Snaps and decides to help him make his dream of becoming a princess come true.

Thoughts

This was silly and lots of fun. I love how Jake changes sides midway through the episode.

Adventure Time 4.12

Gotcha!

Lumpy Space Princess goes undercover to write a book about how to woo men. She does the research for her book while pretending to be Finn and Jake's adventure secretary. She tries to get Finn to fall in love with her.

LSP goes on an adventure with Finn and Jake. She inadvertently gets trapped and they have to rescue her. She comes to the realization that Finn is really hot.

Thoughts

This was very funny. LSP's efforts to get Finn to fall for her cracked me up.

Adventure Time 4.11

Beyond this Earthly Realm

Finn and Jake are exploring a cave when Finn finds an idol of a lamb. Jake warns him not to touch it. Finn touches the idol and is transported to the spirit realm. He can see Jake but Jake cannot see him.

Finn turns to the Ice King for help when he learns that the Ice King can see him.

Thoughts

This was fun and weird, but not gross or too weird.

Adventure Time 4.10

Goliad

Princess Bubblegum makes a creature to rule when she is dead. She names it Goliad. It is much bigger than she. She lets Finn and Jake teach Goliad but they quickly find out that it has bad instincts and that it has learned from their bad examples. They tell Princess Bubblegum what happened. She gets to work on building another creature (Stormo) to counter Goliad while they keep Goliad distracted.

Thoughts

I enjoyed this episode but it felt like an incomplete story. Maybe Goliad and Stormo will return in a future episode.

Adventure Time 4.09

Princess Monster Wife

Ice King steals body parts from many of the the princesses to make himself a princess monster wife. Finn and Jake come after him but they are so disgusted by the way Ice King's wife looks that they faint.

Thoughts

Jake and Finn are in this episode but it felt like Ice King's episode.

This was very weird and kind of gross. It was also also kind of sad but pretty creative.

Adventure Time 4.08

Hug Wolf

Finn gets hugged by a hug wolf and becomes one himself. Jake gets the candy people to lock up Finn and then he leads them on a quest to find the hug wolf who turned Finn.

Thoughts

A hug wolf is something like a werewolf. 

This was a lot of fun and very silly. 

Adventure Time 4.06

Daddy's Little Monster

Finn and Jake watch the videos on Jake's phone from the night before. They learn about how they wound up in the Nightosphere and what's the deal with the bananas.

Finn decides that they must return to the Nightosphere to rescue Marceline from her father. Marceline gets transformed into a monster. Finn and Jake save her with the power of political rap.

Thoughts

This was weird, very weird, but that's more or less par for the course with this show. I enjoyed this episode very much.
