Santa (Douglas Seale) goes out on Christmas Eve 1985 to deliver presents. He trips the silent alarm in one house. The owners call the police who come and arrest the old man. He winds up in jail with three other men dressed as Santa Claus.
Sheriff Horace Smyvie (Pat Hingle) is a bit of a curmudgeon and refuses to believe that he has actually arrested Santa Claus.
Bobby (Gabriel Damon), the young boy whose house Santa was visiting when he was arrested, finds Santa's sleigh and reindeer behind his house. He makes his way to the police station in Santa's sleigh and uses it to break him out.
This was a little too corny for me. It probably didn't help that I was watching it in August but I can't imagine this episode working for me under any circumstances, even on Christmas Eve.

This is the first of two episodes of this show in which Douglas Seale appeared.
This is the only episode of this show in which Pat Hingle appeared. I've seen him in at least a half dozen films, including Batman (1989). He was in an episode of The Phil Silvers Show, 1.05 A.W.O.L. He also appeared in episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), The Twilight Zone (1959), Kraft Suspense Theatre, and The Invaders.
This is the only episode of this show in which Gabriel Damon appeared. He was was in one episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation, 3.05 The Bonding.
This is the second of two episodes for which Joshua Brand and John Falsey wrote the screenplay. The first was 1.03 Alamo Jobe.
This is the first of two episodes of this show that Phil Joanou directed.
