David Vincent visits the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) in Colorado. He claims to be Robert Davis, a freelance journalist. David suspects that the aliens might be targeting NORAD. Part of what brought him to NORAD was a report of a doctor who claimed to have found a woman, dead. The Doctor was subsequently found dead, from drowning, but the woman is very much alive. David suspects that she might be an alien.
David interviews Major Dan Keller, USAF. It was Laurie Keller, Dan's wife, who was reported dead by the doctor who was later found dead. Major Keller thinks David Vincent is crazy and sends him packing. Encouraged by Keller's coworker, Major Pete Stanhope, David stays on the case.
David sees Laurie leave late her home late at night. She goes to meet with other aliens. She brings them information that she obtained from Dan using an alien hypnotic device. They aliens want to establish a base on Earth and are looking for a way to sneak in many of their spaceships without being detected by NORAD.
The aliens are almost successful but Dan finds out that he's been deceived by his wife and gets a message to them in time. This was after he has planted a tampered computer tape at NORAD that would have allowed the aliens to sneak through undetected. The episode ends with David Vincent leaving NORAD, happy to have prevented the aliens from establishing a base on Earth.
Thoughts
David Vincent has two encounters with aliens in this episode, other than Laurie. The first occurs on the road when a couple aliens box him in. He gets out of his car and starts running. He evades them and gets back to his car somehow but that last bit wasn't shown.
The second encounter occurred during the night that Laurie went to meet with the other aliens. Three aliens chase him. He gets into a fist fight with one of them and evades capture by the other two, although they do disintegrate his car.
Not everything in this episode adds up. It isn't a great episode but it was fun to watch an episode of this show for the first time in a few years.
Notes
Antoinette Bower played the part of Laurie Keller. This is the only episode of this show in which she appeared. The appeared in one episode of Star Trek (1966), 2.07 Catspaw. She also appeared in episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), The Twilight Zone (1959), and Kraft Suspense Theatre.
Jason Evers played the part of Major Dan Keller. This is the only episode of this show in which he appeared. He appeared in nine episodes of The Phil Silvers Show, usually these were uncredited appearances and usually he played military officers. The first episode in which he appeared was 1.10 The Centennial. He appeared in one episode of Star Trek (1966).
Simon Scott played the part of Major Pete Stanhope. This is the second of three episodes of this show in which he appeared. He first was 1.13 Storm. He played a different character in each of his three appearances. He was also in an episode of The Twilight Zone (1959) that I watched a few months ago, 1.18 The Last Flight.
This was the first of four episode of this show that was written by Laurence Heath.
This was the first of three episodes of this show that was directed by Don Medford. He directed two episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955), the first of which was 1.03 Triggers in Leash. He also directed episodes The Twilight Zone (1959).
