The Time Meddler

Part 1: The Watcher

The Doctor and Vicki are in the TARDIS when they hear a noise. It turns out to be Steven Taylor. They are surprised to see him. They thought he was dead. He doesn't believe it when they tell him what they are in is a time machine. Steven cleans up, shaves his beard, and gets dressed in some clean clothes just in time for them to leave the TARDIS and see where and when they have landed.

It turns out to be England in the 11th century CE. Steven is disappointed to learn that the TARDIS is broken. It is difficult to control where it will land and it doesn't disguise itself like it is supposed to do. The Doctor goes for a walk on the beach. He tells Vicki and Steven to stay there. None of them see the man who watches them and overhears their conversation.

The Doctor winds up in a dwelling where he meets a woman. He asks her questions about the nearby monastery and recent events. He is able to deduce, based on her responses that the year must be 1066 and that there is a Viking invasion coming.

Steven and Vicki don't follow the Doctor's instructions. They go for a walk themselves. They see a man stop to pick something up. Steven goes to confront the man. The two men fight until the other runs away. Steven picks up the item that caught the man's eye. It is a wristwatch.

The Doctor goes to the monastery. There doesn't seem to be anyone there. The singing that the doctor heard is coming from a record player. He takes the needle off the record. He turns around only to discover that the man who was watching them earlier has trapped him.

Knights of Sidonia 2.10

Entry

The reconnaissance squad is quickly cut down to just two, one of whom is Izana. The pilots and the people running the command center of Sidonia watch what's happening, unable to help. Kunato is concerned that the loss of Izana will endanger his plans. He suggests to Sasaki that they should employ the new version of the Tsugumori. Tanikaze is ordered to report for duty. He is given some instructions and then sent out with Tsumugi after Izana and the other surviving member of the reconnaissance squad.

Mozuku is riding shotgun in Tsumugi. Together they take off for Planet 9. Izana makes a discovery while she waits for help to arrive. She descends through the atmosphere of the planet. The gauna continue to follow her but after she loses her kabizashi she notices that they stop following her. She jettisons her fuel leaving her very little energy to get her around.

Tsumugi and Tanikaze arrive at Planet 9 and are quickly attacked by the hordes of gauna. They kill many of them but then the Crimson Hawksmoth emerges from the gauna horde. Tsumugi takes on the special gauna while Tanikaze goes looking for Izana.

Master of Penguins

Sam is in danger of being put on academic probation because he didn't finish his Ethics midterm. His ethics professor offers to increase his grade if he will help her with her research project. Casey fails a trigonometry test and is in danger of getting suspended from the track team. She spends a lot of time with Izzy before finally getting serious about studying.

Chuck, Doug's EMT partner is getting ready to retire. Elsa signs up for Zoomba lessons and runs into Megan. Doug tells Elsa that he kissed Megan, after getting some grief from Chuck for not being fully honest with her. 

Paige is worried that she is going to get fired but then her boss offers her a job as a manager. The only catch is that she has to agree to stay with the company for three years if she accepts the position.

Sam decides, after avoiding getting put on academic probation, that he should drop out of school and go to Antarctica. 

Justice League 2.13.B

Starcrossed - Part 2

All of Earth's weapon systems no longer work. General Wells tries contacting other world leaders only to have their teleconference shut down by the Thanagarians.

The Justice League, minus Shayera who is still working for her people, is being held captive aboard a Thanagarian war ship but Wonder Woman initiates an escape. She frees Batman who liberates Flash while she is busy fighting their Thanagarian jailers. Pretty soon all six of the heroes are free. They fight their way out of the ship and hide in nearby Metropolis.

Hro Talak orders Kraeger, his lieutenant to find the escaped prisoners. The Justice League hide out in Metropolis. They disguise themselves as civilians and split up into pairs. Batman and Wonder Woman take off in one direction, Green Lantern and Flash in another, Superman and J'onn J'onzz in yet another. The plan is to meet up at Bruce Wayne's place in Gotham City.

Hro tells Shayera about the Thanagarians' real plans for Earth. They are going to create a Hyperspace  Bypass very close to Earth. It is part of their strategy in the war with the Gordanians. The bypass, once activated, will destroy Earth.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)

Brad and Janet get engaged and go on a trip. They get a flat tire on a cold and rainy night. They walk through the rain to an old house. They just want to use the telephone but there are weird things going on in the house.

Thoughts

This was my first time watching the movie. I think I first heard about it in the mid-1980s. They used to show it at midnight on the weekends, IIRC. I'm not sure that I would have gotten any more out of it if I had seen it 30-35 years ago.

I didn't know what it was about but I was familiar with the Time Warp song. I wasn't terribly impressed with the movie. I think that it might be the sort of movie that grows on you with age and repeat viewings but I don't have any plans to watch it again. It also might help to be a little high or drunk while watching it.

I preferred the more energetic musical numbers. There wasn't any particular performance by any of the actors that stood out. The ending was like the rest of the movie, kind of strange.

Call My Agent 1.02

Line et Françoise 

The principal partners at ASK deal with the aftermath of Samuel's death. Françoise Fabian, one of Samuel's clients, wants to back out of a movie that she is supposed to start shooting in three weeks. Andrea takes responsibility for trying to talk Françoise back in to doing the movie. Gabriel meets with Line Renaud, another actress of about the same age, and offers the role to her, without clearing it with the director.

Samuel's widow wants to sell her husband's controlling interest in the company. Mathias suggests that he and the other partners could buy it from her. Mathias is considerably richer than the others who have to scramble to find the money.

I believe this commentary track was recorded in 2008. Cohen talks about the show in general and doesn't talk specifically about this episode very much although he does say that it was one of his favorite episodes.

Cohen talks about some of his other work in television and movies. He talks about how he got started as a writer for television. He worked on and wrote 9 episodes of The Defenders from 1963-65. He wrote two episode of The Fugitive (Escape into Black and Scapegoat) in 1964-65. 

The first show he sold was Branded, which starred Chuck Connors. It ran for two seasons (1965-66). Cohen talks about how in his mind Branded was about a blacklisted cowboy. His take on the show was influenced by the blacklists which determined who could and could not work in television and movies. He learned while the show was in production that Connors didn't share his feelings about the blacklist. He found himself less involved in the writing of the show in the second season.
