The Vegans use mind control to take over the bodies of some of the men of the village of Kisuzaki. Kouji wants to investigate the village but Professor Umon forbids it. Kouji defies the professor's orders and is ready to jump in the TFO and take off for Kisuzaki. Daisuke gets in his way to prevent Kouji from going ahead with his plan.
Minifos attack the Makiba ranch. Daisuke has to help the others on the ranch and Kouji escapes in the TFO. He goes to the village of Kisuzaki. There he encounters lots of men with glowing eyes. They are being mind-controlled by the Vegans. Kouji tries fighting them but they overwhelm him.
Kouji is captured and experimented on by the Vegans. They give him an injection that allows them to control his mind. They put him back in the TFO. That is where Daisuke finds him. As they are getting ready to leave a saucer beast (Gali Gali) comes out of the ground and attacks. They are forced to fight it despite not having Grendizer to help them. Daisuke is driving his dune buggy which has weapons. The fight doesn't last long. It looks like they destroyed the saucer beast but that is what the Vegans want them to think.
The Vegans activate the mind control device once Daisuke and Kouji get back to the observatory. When Kouji has a moment alone he activates a homing beacon for the Vegans. Kouji attempts to kill Professor Umon. Daisuke overpowers him and knocks him out. They leave Kouji tied up in his room. Daisuke jumps in Grendizer and goes out to fight the Saucer Beast which as reappeared.
Duke Fleed launches Grendizer but not through the usual exit that comes out very near the observatory. He uses Secret Route 7, partly because most of the other routes are obstructed by debris. Secret Route 7 leads through a cave and that leads to Gotaki Waterfall. The Saucer Beast Gali Gali has reformed and attacks at soon as Grendizer emerges.
Grendizer defeats the saucer beast. Kouji feels bad that he was the cause of some of the trouble Daisuke and the others endured. He offers to help Danbei rebuild the ranch.
Thoughts
Danbei once again falls from his observation tower without serious injury. This time Daisuke points out that it is lucky that Banta was there to break his fall but Banta also fell from the tower. How is it that he wasn't hurt? Even more confusing is why Danbei is in danger from being crushed by the tower which the minifos destroy and almost lands on him.
It looks as though there are 8 additional routes that Grendizer could use. Number 7 is just one of them. It isn't clear what is wrong with some of the other routes, just that they can't be used at the moment. It is funny that the Vegans haven't figured out exactly where Grendizer emerges from before now, considering how many times he has emerged from the same place to fight saucer beasts.
I really like this one. It shows a little more inventiveness than many of the other episodes. It is a little clumsy in the execution and the animation but it is better than most episodes of this show that I have watched to date.
