Doctor Psycho
Burset is still in the SHU. It is driving her nuts. She tries something desperate. When that doesn't work she tries more desperate tactics. Caputo finally comes to see her and tries to calm her down. She doesn't listen. She escalates her tactics until the SHU has to be evacuated because she has started a fire.
Chapman knows that Ruiz and friends are planning to start an operation like hers. Chapman has seen one of them stealing material from the factory. Chapman tries to even the odds but that only results in Ruiz stepping things up.
Berlin is dead set on killing Whitehill. Vause tries talking her out of it but it gets her nowhere. Vause goes to Red, who has a chat with Berlin. Red calls a meeting with Whitehill, Berlin, and Vause but it quickly becomes clear to Red just how Looney Tunes Whitehill really is.
Healy gets the backstory spotlight. His mother had mental problems. She would hear things. Her husband, Healy's father, sent her for treatment. She didn't like the treatment. It made her forget things. He grows up, becomes a social worker (in the civilian world) who hits on women he is supposed to be helping. He finds his mother living on the street but she is very resistant to his offer of help. He discovers, after spending some time with her, that he's made a mistake. She isn't his mother.
Healy, in the present, suggests to Caputo that Judy King could start a cooking class. It would keep her occupied and away from what Healy sees as unsavory elements, like Luschek. Judy King doesn't like the idea but she doesn't have much of a choice. She does what's demanded of her but she also complains to Caputo who has Healy removed as her counselor.
Coates corners Doggett. He doesn't understand why she's been avoiding him. She wants to know if he has raped Ramos like he raped her. He is stunned by her question.
Aleida learns that she may be eligible for early release. She doesn't know how to handle it. She doesn't tell anyone at first. She finally confides in Mendoza who gives her a pep talk. Aleida finally tells Dayanara.
Whitehill loses it. Piscatella has her dragged in. Healy sees this and insists on handling it. He talks to Whitehill who tells him everything. He insists that she is imagining things, there is no dead body. This seems to calm her down.
Thoughts
This is a very Healy focused episode but there's also plenty of other stuff. Burset returns for her first appearance this seaon. Nicky shows up for the first time since early in Season 3 but it's only a brief moment.
Healy really isn't a good person. I knew that already but this episode makes it abundantly clear.
Caputo lies to Burset. He's obviously feeling a lot of pressure but lying to her doesn't seem justified in the least bit. He's already got power over her. What does he gain by lying? She doesn't buy his claims.
I'm still enjoying this season but it feels a bit overloaded. I don't know why they feel the need to focus on so many different stories. I'm glad that Chapman isn't the only one who gets the spotlight but I think a little more focus than what I am currently seeing might make sense.
