Morty challenges Rick to create a device that will allow him to save his position so that he can go back to the point where he saved his position, like in a video game. This happens after Morty gets upset with Rick's latest stunt, which involved a fake vat of acid.
Rick creates the device and gives it to Morty. Morty has fun with it. He has an adventure and experiences some heartbreak. Jerry screws things up for Morty's biggest success. Morty eventually goes back to Rick. Morty thinks he has learned his lesson but then Rick shows him how the device worked. Each time Morty used the device he was killing a Morty in another dimension. He feels awful.
Rick has a way to bring all those alternate versions of Morty back. Morty agrees to it. Rick presses the button. Everything gets fixed but then Morty is faced with a new problem and the only solution is to jump in another fake vat of acid.
Thoughts
This show moves way too fast for me to follow everything that goes on. There was a reference to Futurama. There was a long musical montage. I enjoyed this episode a lot. I especially like how things get flipped around. It looked like Morty was pressing Rick's buttons but then it turned out that Rick was actually pulling a fast one on Morty. I like that sort of thing. Morty's resignation at the end also brought a smile to my face.
