The Vegans launch small devices toward Earth which go unnoticed by Space Science Center. Daisuke, Hikaru, Kouji, Danbei, and Goro go camping near a lake. Kouji and Daisuke race on the way there, on their cycles. Kouji seems to take the race much more seriously than Daisuke.
Kouji gets to the lake first but he still doesn't seem satisfied. Goro sees Kouji acting strange and suspects that it is because Kouji is in love with Hikaru. Kouji denies it but inside he acknowledges that there is something to Goro's suggestion.
A gang of bikers harass Daisuke and the others while they are camping. Daisuke and the others don't know it but the bikers are Vegans who don't realize who it is that they are antagonizing. Kouji wants to confront the bikers but Daisuke and Danbei convince him not to do that.
Kouji rescues a couple young women from the bikers. They are thankful and invite him to go swimming with them.
The Vegans launch an attack on the Space Science Center. Professor Umon radios Daisuke for help. Everyone rushes back. Daisuke and Hikaru jump in their spaceships (Grendizer, Marine Spazer) and defend the Space Science Center. Kouji joins them in Drill Spazer before too long. Together they drive off the Vegan attackers.
Thoughts
This episode is a little all over the place. There was a point that I thought it was going to be all about dealing with the Vegan bikers. It would have been a nice change of pace. Instead they got in a couple minor saucer beasts and the Vegan bikers just dropped out of the story without explanation.
I think that the subplot in which Kouji is jealous of Daisuke is laying the groundwork for something yet to come. I believe that Duke Fleed's sister enters the story at some point in the near future. She will probably take his mind off of Hikaru. That's my guess.
