Slip 1.04

The Imposter

Rose invites Mae into her house. Mae is at a loss for words. Rose is not and talks a mile a minute. She has prepared all sorts of food. She shows Mae around the house. Elijah is a successful poet in this reality. Rose and Elijah want to have child. Mae is still confused until the door bell rings. It turns out that Rose thought Mae was a social worker from the adoption agency.

Mae takes off running. She scrambles over several fences in an effort to escape from Rose, who calls the police. Rose and two police officers chase Mae. She eventually evades them, for a time, with some help from Eddie, a guy she meets. She hangs out with Eddie and his sister until Rose spots them. Mae takes off running again. She escapes from Rose once again and by chance runs into Gina.

Mae tries explaining to Gina what is going on. Gina has her doubts. Mae is convinced that (a) her vagina is a wormhole and (b) Gina is the one constant in her life. She decides to take charge of the situation by arranging a hookup so that she can orgasm again and move on to another reality. She does just that and wakes up the next morning with the random guy (a stock broker) she hooked up with the night before.

Minutes after he leaves for work she looks out the window and sees him get hit by a bus and killed.

Thoughts

Sandy and Eva are not in this episode. Elijah is not in this episode but Mae does see a picture of him when Rose is giving her a tour of her home.

Mae steals something from Rose and Elijah's house. She has a plan to use it somehow to prove to Gina that she is telling the truth, once she moves on to the next reality. I don't fully understand what her plan is exactly. I'm not sure why she thinks that Gina will remember her once she has moved on to another reality even if she runs into her again.

This episode was very funny. Mae is finally starting to take charge of her situation. She doesn't seem to have complete control but at least she is trying to direct things instead of just reacting to whatever happens to her.
