Episode 7
Kwang-chul talks to Yong-soo early in the episode. Towards the end of the episode he is called to a meeting in Busan.
Park Deuk-soo hangs out until Eun-joo and then Dong-ha return home. Deuk-soo is Dong-ha's father. Dong-ha explains to Eun-joo why he told her that his father was dead. Dong-ha tries to get rid of his father but Deuk-soo insists on sticking around. He later tricks Eun-joo into letting him use her phone. He makes a copy of most of the stuff (messages, photos, videos) on her phone.
Joo-hyun gets grilled by her boss about progress in the case. She doesn't have anything concrete to give him. She pleads to let them continue with the surveillance. She is convinced that the family has something to do with the disappearance of the undercover police officer.
Joo-hyun thinks that someone high up in the drug cartel might be working for another law enforcement agency. It might have been that undercover agent who ordered the death of her colleague or at least that's her current theory.
A dog keeps digging in the family's backyard. It leads Deuk-soo to discover what looks like it might be a body. The episode ends with him calling Dong-ha and asking him what's going on.
Thoughts
This episode was light on Kwang-chul. Joo-hyun probably got more screen time and more lines of dialogue than Kwang-chul.
Deuk-soo, up to this point, seems like nothing more than an annoyance. I hope that he contributes something meaningful (whatever that might be) to the story. Eun-joo seems to have so much on her mind, weighing her down, that she doesn't even consider what Deuk-soo might do while he has her phone.
This is good but I'm still wondering how this is going to wrap up. I don't feel like speculating or predicting because the story up to this point has veered wildly, this way and that. Anything I might come up with would probably be more down to Earth.
