Cyborg the Barbarian
Cyborg is showing off his latest entertainment system to the other Titans when something happens and he gets zapped 5000 years into the past. He arrives in the middle of a battle between humans and green bug like creatures. He tries at first to stay out of the battle for fear of changing history. He finally joins the fray when he sees someone, the leader of the humans about to get killed.
The leader removes their helmet after the battle is over. Cyborg is stunned to see that it is a woman, Sarasim. She welcomes him to her tribe and makes him her new champion. Krall, the former champion doesn't take kindly to Sarasim's decision to reduce him in rank. He turns to a witch for help.
Krall, with the help of the witch is transformed into a large, green bug-like creature. He leads an army of green bug-like creatures to attack Sarasim's village. Cyborg and Sarasim, together, lead the warriors of the village in the battle against Krall and the green bug-like creatures.
A portal opens in the sky in the middle of the battle. A claw emerges from the portal and grabs Cyborg and returns him to Titans Tower in the present. It was Raven who brought Cyborg back to the present. He begs her to let him return but she explains that she can't do that. It was a one-way journey.
Raven later brings Cyborg a book about the past where he reads that Sarasim was victorious in the battle with the green bug like creatures.
Thoughts
There was a character named Sara Simms in the New Teen Titans comic books in the 1980s but she was not a warrior and looked nothing like Sarasim.
One odd thing about this episode is that Sarasim is the only woman in the tribe. There are no other women and no children in the tribe that Sarasim leads. It is a tribe of warrior men led by Sarasim.
Such a good episode. I love what they did here, taking a character from the comic books and completely remaking her. The story, in other ways feels very familiar. It's far from perfect but it hit the right notes for me.
