Episode 8

Deuk-soo asks Dong-ha about the bodies. Dong-ha tells him that the drug cartel buried the bodies in the backyard. Word comes in that the hospital is ready for Hyun-woo but it is going to cost a lot of money, which the Park family does not have.

Kwang-chul sends Dong-ha and Eun-joo to Busan with the money. They are supposed to hand it off to representatives of the top level drug cartel. Kang-jun reaches out to Dong-ha and tries to convince him to hand over the money. Dong-ha and Eun-joo argue about what to do.

Deuk-soo does some sniffing around while everyone is away. He breaks into the house that Joo-hyun and the police have been using to keep an eye on the Park family and Kwang-chul and his men. Deuk-soo later takes Hyun-woo and Yeon-woo to the hospital.

Almost everyone winds up at a hotel in Busan where the hand off is supposed to happen. Kang-jun gets wise to the fact that the police are there. Yun-seok gets wounded in a fight with Kang-jun's right hand man. Kang-jun continues to try to convince Dong-ha to hand over the money.

Dong-ha and Eun-joo check into a room in the hotel but later leave it and get back in the car and take off. Kang-jun and the police are in pursuit. Dong-ha and Eun-joo get away with the money.

Joo-hyun catches up to Kang-jun, after he's been injured. She asks him some questions, finds out that he's been working with someone in the police department but he gets away before she can get a name out of him. His contact in the police department, according to Kang-jun, is the one who ordered him to kill Han-cheol, the undercover cop whose body Dong-ha found in the first episode.

The episode ends with the reveal that Kwang-chul switched bags on Dong-ha and Eun-joo. The bag they had was filled with paper. Kwang-chul has the bag with the money in it. He hands it over to Yong-soo.

Thoughts

The car chase towards the end of this episode was intense. I loved the stunt with the 18-wheeler. It was a little too convenient how some people just seemed to magically vanish at times.

What's next for Dong-ha and Eun-joo? What about Kwang-chul? What about Joo-hyun? Who is the traitor in the police department?  I think there can only be two possible candidates. Neither has played a big role in the story up to this point but they have both been in a few episodes.

This was an fun episode. I didn't see it coming but I enjoyed the ride. I am much more excited now to see how they wrap up this series than I was before watching this episode.
