The Orville 2.10

The Blood of Patriots

The Orville is sent to help negotiate a preliminary peace treaty with the Krill but on the way there they encounter a Krill shuttle being pursued by a much larger Krill ship. Captain Mercer decides to let the shuttle land in the Orville's docking station.

There are two humans on board. One of them is Orrin Channing, a friend of Gordon who spent 20 years in a Krill prison. The other is Leyna, Orrin's daughter. The Krill accuse Orrin of destroying three Krill ships and demand that he be returned to them. The Ed insists that they will need some time to think it over. The Krill them 12 hours.

Leyna is nonverbal. Orrin acts a little strange but there's nothing to conclusively indicate that he did what the Krill claim he did. Gordon trusts his friend but eventually comes to the conclusion that something is wrong. He lets Ed know (off camera) and then helps Orrin steal a shuttle.

Orrin and Gordon take off in search of a Krill ship. Orrin wants to prevent the peace treaty from being signed. He plans to use a bomb he created using the blood of the Leyna, who is not his daughter but an Envall.

Thoughts

Bortus, Isaac, Kelly, and Doctor Finn were only seen to a limited to degree in this episode.

Orrin was played by Mackenzie Astin. He's the son of John Astin. I checked and I don't think I have seen anything else in which he has appeared.

The Krill ambassador was played by John Fleck. He is best known to me for playing Silik in several episodes of Star Trek: Enterprise. He also made appearances on The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. His voice sounded familiar to me but it wasn't until after I checked that I was able to figure out where I had seen him before.

This was a really good episode although there might be some plot holes in it. There wasn't much in the way of humor in it.
