The Phil Silvers Show 4.35

The Weekend Colonel

Bilko finds a short order cook who looks just like Colonel Hall. He hires Charlie, the short order cook, to impersonate Colonel Hall while the colonel is on vacation in Lake Tahoe. Everything goes great until Colonel Hall unexpectedly returns early from Lake Tahoe.

Thoughts

This was a good episode. I like the twists and turns that the plot took. The final shot shows Bilko behind bars as he signs off saying, "That's all Folks!"

Notes

This was the 142nd and final episode of The Phil Silvers Show. I took me several years to get through them all (at my glacial pace) but I made it. There is still about 60 minutes of extras on the last DVD in this set that I hope to get to in the next couple weeks.

Jimmy Little made his 62nd and final appearance on this show in this episode. He appeared in episodes from all four seasons of this show.

Barbara Barry played the part of WAC Edna. This is the 37th and final episode of this show in which she appeared. She appeared in episodes from all four seasons of this show. Her 37 appearances are her only acting credits according to IMDb.

Billie Allen played the part of WAC Billie. This is the 36th and final episode of this show in which she appeared. She appeared in episodes from all four seasons of this show. She has been in a couple other things I have watched but nothing else I have seen recently.

Al Lewis made his third and final appearance on this show in this episode. This time he played a character named Bruno the mobster. The previous episode he was in was 4.31 Bilko's Casino.

George Kennedy also made an uncredited appearance in this episode. It was at least the 14th episode in which he appeared. He usually played an MP in this episode, as he usually did. He didn't have any lines in this episode, as was also usually the case. He appeared in one episode of the Alfred Hitchcock Hour. He was in at least six movies that I have seen but none that I have seen recently.
