Arrestations
or Arrests
5 Sep 1944
Suzanne learns that her husband is thinking of moving to Brittany with their daughter. The only way to get him to stay is to reunite with him but she has no interest in doing that. She goes to work for Edmond. He asks her to dig up some dirt on Bériot. She turns to Loriot for help with this task.
Rita reveals to Ézéchiel that Marchetti is hiding in their apartment. He wants Marchetti out but agrees to let him stay for the day, until someone comes to get him.
Bériot finds out that Anselme and his men are holding Jeanine Schwartz. He tells Antoine that they have to get her back. Antoine and Loriot find and retrieve Jeanine. Ansemle's men don't like it. Neither does Anselme but he allows it to happen.
Bériot removes Edmond as head of relief efforts in Villeneuve, after accusing him of using that position to gather intel. He appoints Daniel Larcher to take his place. Larcher makes progress but Edmond, relying on information that Loriot dug up and handed over to Suzanne, produces a document that Daniel signed saying that he was an informer for the SD. Daniel tries to argue but Bériot dismisses him. He tells Daniel to return home and stay there. He is now under house arrest.
Genevieve finds out that the former resistance fighters led by Anselme are planning something. Antoine sends one of his men to infiltrate the group and find out what they have planned.
Genevieve also tells Antoine about what happened at the train station, about how Marchetti shot and killed the German commander and the woman with whom Marchetti fled the train station. Antoine works with Loriot to figure out who she is and then they go looking for her. They don't find her but they find Marchetti hiding in the apartment Rita shares with her son, Ézéchiel, and his daughter.
Thoughts
Raymond Schwartz and Lucienne are not in this episode.
It feels to me as though things continue to spiral downward in this episode. Everyone seems to be struggling and not making any headway with the exception of Edmond. I'm not sure what to expect out of the final episode of the season. It feels like there are a lot of loose threads that still need to be tied up. I guess that Marchetti will probably get killed but I'm not sure how that will happen. He might be executed after a trial but it seems almost as likely that a mob or Anselme or Raoul could kill him.
