Episode 11
Jeong-hyuk explains to Se-ri how he got to Seoul and what he's doing there. He explains about Cho Cheol-gang's threats. Cheol-gang crosses paths with some of the security guard in the building where Se-Ri's Choice is located. He was, unbeknownst to Se-Ri, recently hired as part of the building's security team.
Se-ri takes Jeong-hyuk back to her place. They order some food, after a few awkward moments, and are just about ready to dig in when her brother Se-hyeong and his wife (Sang-a) show up unexpectedly. Se-ri has Jeong-hyuk hide in another room. Se-ri has an awkward conversation with her brother and his wife, after which they leave. Sang-a notices another pair of shoes near the door but doesn't say anything to her husband or her sister-in-law.
Man-Bok and Jeong-hyuk's four men continue to explore the south. They stare enviously into the window of a fried chicken restaurant and go to a spa and spoil themselves.
The women of the North Korean village go to see a fortune teller. Cho Cheol-gang's associates get arrested. Seung-jun has to move fast in order to avoid getting picked up himself. Jeong-hyuk's parents talk about what they will do now that their son has disappeared. Se-ri takes Jeong-hyuk to a department store and buys him some new clothes. He balks when he sees how much it costs but she insists.
Man-bok and the others find the building where se-ri's Choice is located but can't get past security. A rumor starts to spread in the north that Seo-dan's engagement to Jeong'hyuk is off and then some of her friends spot her with Seung-jun. She helps him by letting him stay in the home where she planned to live with Jeong-hyuk. He asks her to stay and have instant noodles with him. She does and then he warns her about men who might ask her to have instant noodles with her.
Hong Chang-Sik and another of Se-ri's employees pull Jeong-hyuk aside. They try to explain some things to him about his new boss. She introduced him to them as her new bodyguard. When he questions her later on she tells him that they don't know what they are talking about.
Ko Myeong-Eun, Seo-dan's mother, finds out about Seung-jun, whom Ko Myeong-Seok, Seo-dan's uncle believes is named Alberto. Seo-dan goes to see Seung-jun who is very happy to see her.
Yoon Se-jun and Do Hye-ji, one of Se-ri's brothers and his wife, have a talk with his mother. They break the news to her that Se-ri was in North Korea for the month that she was missing. They also tell his mother that his brother knew about this and said nothing.
Se-ri and Jeong-hyuk find out that someone shot a video of him holding the door to the department store when they went shopping. The video got uploaded to the internet and is going viral.
Jeong-jyuk gets a call from a contact. He goes to meet them, alone, and finds out that it is a trap. He fights off the men who try to kill him but Cho Cheol-gang comes after Se-ri while he is gone. He makes it back just in time to prevent anything from happening to her but Cheol-gang now has Se-ri's phone.
The episode ends with a flashback to Switzerland, seven years before. Seo-dan recalls meeting Se-ri back then, first in a store and then later when she (Seo-dan) was walking on a mountain road with Jeong-hyuk. Se-ri took their picture for them and then she went one way and they went the other way.
Thoughts
It sees somewhat contradictory how one minute Se-ri talks about how she is constantly recognized and the next she is going to a department store with Jeong-hyuk and none of the employees picks up on who they are helping.
How will Man-bok and the others reconnect with Jeung-hyuk and Se-ri? How much money do they have? Where are they staying for that matter?
I'm wondering how all this will wrap up. I don't see how Jeong-hyuk and Se-ri can possibly stay together without major repercussions for his family. But I also can't see her opting to stay in the North. Will they move to Switzerland and live there? What will happen to everyone else? Especially those from the North.
I'm still enjoying this show. I'm going to stick with it and continue to watch these episodes in 20-25 minute chunks. I'm wondering if the subplot with Cho Cheol-gang will get resolved in the next episode or two thus clearing the way for the story to deal with other parts of the story, like their families.
