Matt has a chat with Sister Maggie. She's tired of him feeling sorry for himself. She mentions that she once thought about not being a nun, when she was just starting out on the path that led her to her current life. Matt has a couple flashbacks to his youth. He's angry now (and was then) because God never answered him prayers, never spoke to him.

Daredevil 3.01
Resurrection
Matt survived the collapse of the building in The Defenders 1.08. He was taken to the orphanage where he grew up after his father was killed. There he is cared for by Sister Maggie (Joanne Whalley) who remembers him from when he was a boy. She doesn't have much patience for his self pity. He tells her about his sensory abilities but he also lets her know that they don't seem to be working any more.

Daredevil 2.13
A Cold Day in Hell's Kitchen
- Season Finale
- disappointing; it felt like they crammed too much into this single episode
- there were some "happy" coincidences at or towards the end (1 - Frank/Punisher showing up to help out, 2 - Stick showing up to take down Nobu) that just seemed a little too convenient for me
- Matt's insistence that Black Sky is a myth grated on my nerves (as it has in previous episodes) and his profession of love for Elektra just before they go out on the roof top to fight the Hand made me groan and roll my eyes (it seemed forced)
- it felt like they were fast forwarding through a number of things
- still pissed about the fact that they killed off Ben Urich in Season 1, he was a pivotal character and a great actor was playing the part
- I don't have a problem with the dircetion they have Karen headed in but it really isn't impressing me either
- the editor at the Bulletin is a poor substitute for Ben Urich
- I like how they had twin story lines througout this season (1) Punisher (2) Elektra but there was much stumbling along the way
- on the whole this season had its moments but it started slowly and ended badly, and it isn't so much the content as how it was told in a very rushed way; overall C+ but the ending is more like a D+

Daredevil 2.12
The Dark at the End of the Tunnel
- lots of insight into Elektra's past; see her as a young child being trained by Stick; see how far back her violent streak goes
- Stick wasn't just training her; he was trying to protect her; he's the ones who introduced her to her adoptive parents, the Natchios
- This is probably my favorite part of this episode especially, the moments when Nobu and the Hand bows before her; the moments when she has to decide whether to accept their offer or not; partly I think it is the sudden turn of events
- Karen continues her turn as an investigator for the Bulletin, she visits Col. Schoonover (Clancy Brown) only to discover that he was the Blacksmith (?); actually it isn't clear to me if he was the Blacksmith; looks like he was planning to kill Karen when Frank shows up; Frank kills him, despite Karen's pleas for him not to
- on the whole I enjoyed this episode much more than the last one; some of the fight scenes were lacking something but the bits with Daredevil were always good, Elektra not so much

Daredevil 2.11
.380
- not my favorite episode; lacked focus
- Frank uses Karen as bait for the mob; this part of the story is starting to feel like setup for the upcoming Punisher series
- the opening was a bit anticlimactic; I was expecting more when I saw ninjas (the Hand) approaching the hospital at the end of episode 10
- What is Elektra's motivation? Why does she hate Stick so much? Why does she continue to kill his men?
- I was excited to see that Stick was going to be in this episode but disappointed by how little of him there was in it
- Who is the Blacksmith? Is this someone from the comics or someone made up for the the show?I'm afraid I will learn more than I want to know if I start googling it/him

Daredevil 2.10
The Man in the Box
- things get considerably more interesting
- someone guns down Reyes (DA) and the ME in separate incidents; at first in looks like the Punisher is to blame but by the end of the episode it is clear that he is not, that he being framed
- Matt goes to the prison to interview Fisk; it doesn't go well; he angers Fisk by bringing up Vanessa and threatening to ensure that she won't be allowed to step foot in the US again; Fisk manhandles Matt and promises he will get revenge on Matt and Foggy
- by far, the confrontation in the prison was my favorite of this episode but by no means was it the only one I liked
- the hit man tries to take down Karen but she is saved by Frank, in her apartment, her police escort is gone, vanished, how or why is unclear
- Elektra fights a would be assassin at the airport, an airport, in a hangar; for a brief moment I wondered if the would be assassin was Bullseye but she killed him; before he died he told her that Stick had sent him
- the episode opened with the rescue of the 5 people who were in cages at the end of episode 9; they are taken to Metro General Hospital after DD has a chat with Detective Mahoney
- the 5 are looked after by Claire Temple; Matt comes to visit and they have a couple chats; the 5 don't seem normal even after they wake up; they are missing their fingernails; towards the end of the episode they awaken and kill the accountant as the Hand (?) returns for them
- Foggy also spends some time in MGH after he gets shot in the arm during the incident when Reyes was killed; he is still in the hospital when the Hand returns
- lots of setup; definite inbetweener but beautifully done in ways that made it feel important and more than just a bridge to the next big event; Matt and Fisk was definitely an important moment in both their lives

Daredevil 2.09
Seven Minutes in Heaven
- lots of Punisher and Kingpin in prison in this one, not much Elektra
- a bit slow and plodding with some moments of action
- in prison, Kingpin's early days are shown, how he tries to lay low at first but then hooks up with some black cons, for protection, but then starts to make moves
- when Punisher arrives Kingpin talks him into going after the guy (the convict) who runs most of the gang activity
- Dutton (played brilliantly by William Forsythe) is the man who runs things; Kingpin convinces Punisher that Dutton was behind the murder of his family
- Punisher goes after Dutton, with some help getting access from Kingpin; he wrecks havoc in Dutton's cell block; it looks like he fatally stabs Dutton but he shows up later on in the prison ICU
- Kingpin turns on Punisher and leaves him locked in Dutton's cell block facing brutal odds against survival but he makes it out alive
- Kingpin then uses his influence to get Punisher out of prison because he sees Castle as more valuable to him on the outside wrecking havoc than in prison doing the same
- Daredevil is on his own for most of the episode and only has two interactions with regular members of the cast: (1) he argues with Elektra (after she heals him) about her hitting the young ninja in Episode 8; she tries to explain to him that they are at war with the Hand but he thinks that they can take it to the police; (2) Foggy comes by after Elektra leaves Matt's apartment; Foggy wants to put their professional an personal relationships on hold
- Karen does some more sleuthing and works with the newspaper editor some more; together they visit the medical examiner
- Daredevil tracks down the Hand's accountant, tries to help him get his son back, faces off against Nobu who was thought to be dead (last season) but Nobu escapes with a large sarcophagus that was being fed by the blood of living people including the accountant's son
- not a great episode but it had it's moments; lots of setup without much payoff
- Frank got out of prison much faster than I thought he would
- Prediction: no more Frank this season; mostly ninjas and Elektra and Stick; Kingpin? naaah...

Daredevil 2.08
Guilty as Sin
- Foggy and Karen do their best to keep the defense of Frank Castle together but Matt and Frank blow the case wide open and Frank goes to prison
- Matt and Elektra encounter the Hand; Stick shows up to give them a -- er -- help them out, or is it the other way around; Matt learns more about Elektra and her ties to Stick
- not great but not awful; it had its moments but some of them weren't so great
- glad to see Stick back in the story; he really knows how to push Matt's buttons; I don't think we've seen the last of him; he will be back, probably this season
- no great Karen or Foggy moments
- loved seeing Clancy Brown in this episode playing Frank's former commanding officer; doubtful that he will show up again in Daredevil but hopefully in the Punisher series he will
- Karen finally got to meet Elektra, not that she even knew Matt was running around with her
- Elektra sees the good in Matt and wants to be good too but ultimately her true nature shows through as she kills the ninja
- Matt's pollyanish attitude about not using deadly force against the Hand is annoying; he thinks he can have it all his way; seems like he might be headed for a breakdown
- Elektra's reveal that she was working for Stick, when she first met Matt, hit him kind of hard
- just as the 4th episode seemed to end the 1st part of this season, as it ended with the capture of Punisher and the introduction of Elektra, this episode seemed to end the 2nd part of this season, as Frank's trial ends and he heads off to prison and Matt's life seems to be in bad shape as he blows it in court, blows it with Karen, and learns the truth about Elektra

Daredevil 2.07
Semper Fidelis
- a bit of misdirection with the title, although Frank (the former Marine) Castle is in it the title seems to be a reference to Matt's relationships with Foggy and Karen from whom he has been concealing Elektra and his activities with her
- Foggy, Matt, and Karen prepare for Frank's defense; Matt is supposed to handle the opening statement for the defense but shows up late because he was up late the night before with Elektra fighting Yakuza
- Foggy stumbles at first but finds his way and does a great job with the opening argument for the defense; Matt shows up halfway through it but Foggy keeps going
- Foggy confronts Matt afterwards in the men's room which is when - no wait - Foggy does confront Matt afterwards and Matt just pledges to do better
- That night Elektra spies on Matt and Karen at his apartment as they prepare for questioning the medical examiner in court the next day; they suspect he also wrote the report on Frank's family and changed the facts; they are hoping he will - or they will - be able to get him to reveal his crime in court but then they get into an argument about vigilantes; Karen seems to be in favor of them and Matt against
- the next day in court the medical examiner reveals that he was threatened by a woman (who Matt knows, who must be Elektra) and his testimony is thrown out which is damning to the defense's case
- Foggy and Matt have it out in the men's room which is when Matt finally tells him that Elektra is back and about what he has been working on with her, and that she is the rich client; Foggy flips out and questions Matt's loyalty to himself and Karen and his dedication to the case
- After the blow up in the courthouse Matt goes out with Elektra to investigate one of the sites in the ledger they stole in episode 6; after fighting some Yakuza they find a seemingly bottomless pit; and that's where it ends
- overall very excited by this episode
- Foggy had another great scene where he rises to the occasion; for the most part I'm not crazy about him but I love him in this kind of scene
- I'm convinced that they are going to lose this case, Frank will go to prison, Frank will break out of prison
- curious about the train full dirt; I think that will reappear; not sure what the deal was
- where is Stick? So wanting him and his boys to appear; where's the Kingpin? He's been mentioned but that's the extent of it

Regrets Only
- two tracks
- Matt and Elektra: first they fight yakuza, they win, then over breakfast Matt tries to get Elektra to leave, she won't, Matt agrees to help her infiltrate Roxxon Corp, they do, steal a ledger and just barely manage to escape
- Foggy, Karen, and Frank: Frank Castle is back in the picture, Nelson and Murdock decides to represent the Punisher, who is facing a death sentence, at first he has no interest in talking to them, but after Karen shows him the picture she took from his home and tells him she knows there is a cover up of the murders of his family he opens up, Foggy gets DA Reyes to agree to reduced charges (no death penalty, one life sentence with the possibility of parole after 25 years, but no protective custody) provided he pleads guilty but he chooses to plead not guilty
- anoter great episode
- didn't expect to see Frank Castle back so soon but I like the two track approach

Kinbaku
- Elektra is back in Matt's life
- Matt and Karen go on a date
- Karen does some digging into Frank Castle, trying to figure out why some key information about him isn't in the newspapers
- Matt flashes back, a number of times, to the events of 10 years ago when he first met and fell for Elektra; when she captured the mobster who killed Matt's father, and got off on watching Matt beat him up but he stopped short of killing him, which she wanted him to do
- the episode ends with Elektra revealing that she knows that Matt is Daredevil and has brought his uniform, as they are about to get attacked by ninjas
- looks more and more like Punisher may be back before the end of the season
- not a great episode but a pretty good one
- I like Elektra a little more than Matt at this point
- thinking now that Born Again will be next season
- what does the title mean?
- Foggy meets with his ex (from season 1?) and boy does she look different

Daredevil 2.04
Penny and Dime
- can't believe I waited that long between episodes
- definitely worth returning to
- funeral for Grotto
- Punisher has earned the wrath of the Irish gang led by Nesbitt; they track him down and capture him, torture him; Nesbitt wants his money back; Punisher doesn't give until they threaten his dog; even then he's got a couple tricks up his sleeve (a bomb in the case with the money; a razor blade up his sleeve, under the gauze); with some help from Daredevil he escapes; Daredevil gets him medical attention but also gets him arrested; Officer Mahoney is the the arresting officer and gets all the credit
- not as much Foggy in this episode
- Karen gets a bit of a spotlight when she does some sleuthing and breaks into Frank Castle's home; nothing has been changed since his family was killed
- on the whole a very Punisher-centric episode, like the last one but more so
- Matt and Karen's romantic relationship advances quite a bit but at the end of the episode he goes home alone and finds Elektra waiting for him
- looks like the Punisher is out of the picture for now but he will probably be back but maybe not in this season, maybe in another Netflix Marvel TV series
- Daredevil visits Melvin Potter and gets some upgrades to his uniform

Daredevil 2.03
New York's Finest
- best episode yet and a big improvement over the previous two
- even before the big fight at the end I really got into this episode
- similar to the season as a whole, this episode started kind of slow, I wasn't too crazy about the way the rooftop scene began but as it evolved I became more and more intrigued by it as Daredevil and the Punisher debated the morality of killing bad guys
- I also dug the scene in the hospital where Foggy talks the two gang members into not fighting; I don't know how realistic it was but I thought it was well done
- Claire makes a reference to Luke Cage and her role in the Jessica Jones series
- the fight scene at the end was over the top awesome; loved how it was filmed; like the scene from the end of episode 1.02 it was intense fighting filmed in a way that gave the viewer no chance to catch their breath
- in the rooftop debate scene I was torn between Punisher and Daredevil; Daredevil's arguments weren't very persuasive
- liked/loved the nods to the Marine Corps although as I understand it Punisher's ties to the Marine Corps only date back to the Born mini-series
- there were a few moments early in the episode when Charlie Cox sounded non-American
- I hope Murray shows up again
- I never was very fond of the notion of Nelso & Murdock taking on Grotto as a client

Daredevil 2.02
Dogs to a Gunfight
- still not great, lacking in great moments
- Foggy gets on my nerves; the moment where he grabbed the Daredevil costume as if he was going to take it away from Matt, puh-lease!
- at the same time he was the one who found Matt on a rooftop; love to have seen the trip back to Matt's apartment because I can't imagine it
- we get more of the Punisher; the scene in the pawn shop was the first one that I really liked
- the whole thing with Grotto and the DA wasn't bad but it wasn't great or really good
- it feels like the show is treading water, 2 episodes into the season and it already feels like the episodes are being padded
- the Daredevil-Punisher fight scene was pretty good
- still not great, lacking in great moments

Daredevil 2.01
Bang
- opens with DD picking off and taking down some armed robbers who are running (on foot) from the cops
- Foggy and Matt on the street, talking about Foggy's love life but that quickly morphs into a discussion of Matt's superhero life
- Foggy and Matt arrive at the office, which is full of potential clients, very different from last season, all of them poor, only able to pay in food
- Karen reveals that they (the law firm) is broke, but later we see them at a bar; maybe Karen was just exaggerating?
- In another part of town a meeting of Irish mobsters is gunned down in cold blood; one man survives, escapes, meets (inadvertently?) Matt, Foggy, and Karen at Josie's; his name is Grotto; before their conversation ends Grotto collapses unconscious, from the wounds he sustained
- Karen takes Grotto to the hospital while the other two investigate the mass killing; Grotto and the police seem to think it is a group or gang but it is not
- Grotto flips out when he discovers that he has been checked into a hospital; Karen does her best to reassure him that they didn't use his real name or reveal what actually happened to him
- Foggy and Matt first visit the scene of the crime where they meet Officer Mahoney; he is reluctant to speak but they eventually convince him that they are on his side and get some information out of him
- As Daredevil, Matt tracks down Turk and gets a lead from him which leads him to a warehouse
- Foggy goes to a biker bar where he learns about the death of a biker whom he helped a few years earlier, and almost gets himself killed
- In the hospital Karen and Grotto almost get killed and are forced to run when someone targeting Grotto comes after him; Grotto is in the assassin's cross-hairs when Daredevil arrives and gets into a fight with the assassin
- The fight goes back and forth on the rooftops until the assassin and shoots Daredevil and he falls off the roof
- Obviously the assassin is the Punisher; similar to the way that Kingpin and Killgrave were introduced, we don't get to see Punisher's face until the very end
- Daredevil's costume looks a bit wonky, especially the eyes
- overall I like it, I want to see more but I don't love it
