The Vegans use missiles to break up an asteroid that is headed on a collision course with their base on the moon. The meteors that are created from the breakup of the asteroid head for Earth.
Daisuke befriends Makichi, a boy who doesn't want to play with the others. Maikichi tells him about his village. Daisuke senses a kindred spirit in Makichi who has also lost loved ones.
Duke Fleed learns from Professor Umon about the meteors that are headed for Earth. He goes out to try and break them up. He breaks them up but the debris from them continues to head for Earth. Makichi's home village has to be evacuated because the meteorites look like they will hit it.
The Vegans set up a new base in the area where the ruins of Makichi's village are. They have plans to spread out from there and conquer the Earth. Those plans go out the window when they see Kouji in the TFO investigating the damage. Blaki freaks out and orders the new base to be evacuated. All the minifos are destroyed in the chaos that ensues, most of them crash into one another.
Saucer Beast Gozugozu is the only Vegan ship to escape intact. Kouji attacks the fleeing saucer beast. It turns and deals him a devastating blow which forces him to crash land. Duke Fleed, in Grendizer, comes in and fights Gozugozu.
The episode ends with Makichi reuniting with his neighbor, Ori. He also gets to see that the people of his village are starting to rebuild.
Thoughts
I like to think that they could have come up with a better title for this episode. The title I chose to use was the one on the DVD. The one I found online was The Terrifying Aerolight makes even less sense to me. The French title for this episode translates to The Crushed Village which makes a little more sense than the other one I found online.
The scene where the minifos destroyed one another after Blaki panicked and ordered them to evacuate was kind of ridiculous.
I understand where they were going with Makichi's story line but it still felt a bit forced. I sincerely doubt that this character will ever show up again.
