Jimmy helps Mike deal with the homicide detectives from Philadelphia. He returns the stolen notebook to them and claims that they found it in the parking lot. The younger detective is livid but the older one gets him to back off. Mike has a private chat with the older detective once his partner and Jimmy have left the room. The older detective agrees that the dead cops got what they deserved and has hope that the department will improve. Jimmy tries grilling Mike afterwords but Mike refuses to tell him what was said.
Jimmy stops by Chuck's place. He finds Chuck standing outside while counting. Chuck returns inside after 2 minutes. He is trying to cure himself of his allergy to electromagnetic fields. Jimmy is pleased to hear it. He then wheels in some boxes of files that he wants to store there because his office is overloaded. After Jimmy leaves he looks through the window and sees Chuck going through the files. Jimmy seems pleased.
Kimmy shows Kim the office he is thinking of renting. She is very impressed. The kicker is that he wants her to quit HHM and become his law partner. She turns him down gently.
Jimmy tries to settle into his elder law practice but then he gets a call from the Kettlemans. They aren't happy with the job Kim is doing for them. Kim's advice is that Craig admit he stole the money and return it, in return Kim has arranged for a deal wherein Craig will serve 16 months in prison. If he doesn't accept the deal then Craig could spend up to 30 years in prison. There is too much evidence to prove he stole the money. They deny everything and want that to be their defense strategy.
Betsy refuses to accept the deal. She fires Kim and turns to Jimmy. She wants him to defend Craig. She points out that they did give him a retainer. Craig helpfully points out that the $30,000 they gave him will have to be returned if they are to take the deal. Jimmy calls Kim to find out what happened and how bad the case is against the Kettlemans.
Jimmy send Mike to find and retrieve the money. This settles Mike's account with Jummy. He then has Mike give the money back to the authorities, including the money they gave him. Jimmy talks the Kettlemans into going back to Kim Wexler and accepting the plea deal.
Thoughts
This is a good episode although it did drag a tiny bit. I liked the confrontations with the Kettlemans. I like how Jimmy is obviously trying to lure Chuck back to work. I like how Jimmy tries to lure Kim into quitting HHM.
