Justice League 2.02.A

Tabula Rasa - Part 1

Lex Luthor gets into a fight with Hawkgirl and Superman. He's wearing his power armor but they are too much for him. He escapes after he distracts them by tearing a hole in the side of a ship with lots of rich people on board. They stay to help the people on the ship.

Lex returns to his headquarters. His armor is in bad shape. He's in bad shape. He needs medical attention. Mercy shows up. He left her in charge. He's asks her where he can find Professor Ivo but it turns out that she fired him. Luthor heads for Ivo's home.

Superman has a chat with J'onn J'onzz after the ship has been saved. He asks him if he can use his mental powers to locate Luthor. J'onn expresses some concern that scanning the whole city might be a dangerous thing to do but he agrees to give it a try.

Lex arrives only to discover that Ivo is dead. His body is beneath a sheet. Luthor quickly discovers that he isn't alone. One of Professor's Ivo's creations, an android, is also in the house. Luthor lies to the android. He tells him that he's a friend of the professor. He talks the artificial man into helping him. He sends it on a mission to retrieve an energy source.

J'onn scans the city. He finds Luthor but then he discovers that he can't turn off his powers. He hears everyone's thoughts within range. It is more than he can bear. He flies far away and winds up in a forest. Superman tries contacting him but he is still experiencing pain and smashes his radio.

The robot gets the item that Luthor requested but is slowed down by an encounter with Hawkgirl. It analyzes Hawkgirl's abilities and copies them by growing wings and a mace. Luthor tells the android that the Justice League are evil. They want to destroy Luthor. The machine wants to please Lex. It considers him to be it's friend.

Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, and Flash locate the android. They start fighting it only to discover that it can copy each of their powers. Superman contacts them to see how things are going. Green Lantern warns Superman to stay away. Superman doesn't listen. He tries to blind the android but eventually it sees him, analyzes him like it did the others, and duplicates his powers.

Thoughts

Mercy looks different that she did in Superman: The Animated Series. She seems shorter and not as physically strong.

I don't believe the robot's name is used in the episode but in the credits he is referred to as Amazo. A character of the same name in the comics and with similar powers looked very different. That version of Amazo first appeared in Brave and the Bold 30 (Jun 1960).

I love Batman's snarky comments when he is talking to Superman.

I like this episode a lot. It almost feels more like an episode of Lex Luthor: The Animated Series than it does Justice League. I don't recall exactly how it ends but I have some guesses.
