Shadow Weaver is locked up by Queen Angella after she collapses in Adora's room. The queen won't let Adora anywhere near the evil sorceress. Adora tries to sneak into the room where Shadow Weaver is being kept. Bow and Glimmer keep Adora away from Shadow Weaver at first but eventually she talks them into helping her. Bow creates a distraction while Adora and Glimmer talk to Shadow Weaver.
Catra is locked up pending punishment. Scorpia comes to break her out but Catra chases her away. Entrapta is surprised to learn that Catra has been locked up. She tries talking Hordak out of punishing Catra. She insists that they have gained more first ones tech with Catra as Hordak's second in command but Hordak doesn't seem to listen.
Shadow Weaver is dying. She needs She-Ra's help. She explains to Adora that the stone in her sword is her rune stone. She can use it to focus her powers and heal Shadow Weaver. She needs some coaching from Shadow Weaver to do it the first time. She-Ra heals Shadow Weaver and then asks her why she is there.
Shadow Weaver explains that she wants to get revenge on Hordak. Her best chance of doing that is by joining forces with the Princess Alliance. She also tells Adora about her origins, that she isn't of this world but was brought to Etheria through a portal by Hordak. He is trying to open the portal to a dimension where the rest of the Horde can be found. If he does that the forces of good don't stand a chance.
Adora doesn't believe it. She runs off to see Light Hope at the Beacon. Light Hope confirms what Shadow Weaver told her about her parentage. Light Hope also worries that Adora is becoming erratic, like Mara. Adora returns to the palace of Bright Moon. She announces that she has decided to go to the Crimson Waste.
Hordak decides to punish Catra by sending her to the Crimson Waste. It is the compromise he has struck with Entrapta who is convinced that there is First Ones tech there.

Shadow Weaver isn't altruistic in the least bit. She helps Adora but I think that's primarily because it suits her own ends. Adora hopes that Shadow Weaver has some goodness left in her. I think she is obsessed with power. Shadow Weaver wants to supplant Hordak as leader of the Horde. That's my read of the her motivations.
This is a good start to season 3. I'm certain Adora and Catra will cross paths in the Crimson Waste. I'm also fairly sure that they won't be the only ones who travel to the Crimson Waste. I'm curious to see where else things go from here in the remaining 5 episodes of this short season.
