Star Blazers 2199 1.21

Prison Planet 17

The humans dispose of the bodies of the dead by giving them space burials, including the bodies of the enemy combatants who boarded the Yamato.

Yuki is taken to Leptapoda, Prison Planet 17. She is attended by General Domel's widow, who doesn't know that her husband is dead. Yuki was told before arriving that the Yamato was destroyed.

The crew of the Yamato needs to repair their ship and finds a planet with the resources they need for the job. Kodai volunteers to scout the planet, which is within Gamilan territory. He unexpectedly finds a passenger in scout ship, Yurisa Isakandar.

She tells him where they can find Yuki. He takes her at her word and they go looking for Yuki. Before they arrive they are interrupted by a two armed stowaways. One of them shoots, damaging the controls and Kodai is forced to crash land the scout ship.

Kodai, Yurisha, and the stowaways are taken prisoner and brought to the prison. They aren't in custody very long when an imperial inspection ship arrives. It turns out to be a ruse. The ship is commanded by Melba Ditz who is there to free her father.

A prison break occurs. The guards are overrun by the prisoners who have been armed. Yuki is ferried away before Kodai can get to her. Yurisha shows Kodai where Yuki and her captor are headed, the planet Gamilas. She also reveals to him that Gamilas and Iskandar are twin planets.

Thoughts

I don't fully understand the story with the stowaways. Why is it that they have stowed away? What is their agenda?

Once again this show does not fully satisfy. The show is breezing over things without fully fleshing them out. It is so frustrating that they put all this effort into animating this story again, and don't take the time to develop some of the characters. I grow weary of epics like this when they try to do too much.
