Gloves Off
Mike walks into his place in bad shape. One side of his face is bruised up. He's been hit hard.
Jimmy faces the music. He meets with the partners of Davis and Main. All three of them disapprove of his decision to air the commercial, without consulting with them first. They don't care about the results it produced. They care more about the firm's reputation than they do about the outcome of the Sandpiper case. Cliff warns Jimmy that he now has two strikes against him.
Howard gives Kim a hard time, in front of Chuck, for not warning them about the commercial.
Mike meets with Nacho who wants him to bump off Tuco. Nacho sees it as the only solution. He think that it is only a matter of time before Tuco comes after him, rightly or wrongly. Nacho wants Mike to shoot him at close range but Mike suggest that with a sniper rifle he could take care of Tuco with considerably less risk of being spotted.
Jimmy finds Kim at the office late at night. She has been given a lesser job, doc review. Jimmy goes to see Chuck and tries to bargain with him. Jimmy says he will quit the law if Chuck will just take the pressure off of Kim. Chuck refuses to play ball.
Mike meets with a man who offers to sell him a sniper rifle. He has brought a few different models. Mike listens to the man's spiel, looks over the rifles, but then decides not to buy one.
Mike explains his plan to Nacho. He goads Tuco into assaulting him in front of policemen. He gets beat up. He's pretty sure that Tuco will be put away for at least 5 years. He meets up with Nacho later that night. Nacho pays him $25K, half of what he was prepared to pay Mike to kill Tuco.
Thoughts
I think it is pretty clear that Jimmy's job at Davis and Main isn't going to last too much longer. He doesn't have the patience or the humility to do what is necessary to hold on to a job like that. He craves the spotlight and control.
I'm not sure where things stand between Jimmy and Kim. I have noticed that she doesn't get her own arc in the way that Mike does. It would be nice to see her be something more than Jimmy's love interest and coworker. It would be nice to see her be something without him. I'm not rooting for her to break things off with him I just want her to get more room to breathe. I hope that she does.
This wasn't a terribly exciting episode. The train is on the tracks but I can't what's immediately ahead. I don't hate it but the pace seems a bit slow.
