Bali Ha'i
Jimmy can't sleep. He tries lots of things but he's restless. He goes back to the teensy little office in the back of the Salon. He falls asleep there.
Jimmy leaves Kim a voice mail the next morning. He sings her a show tune, Bali Ha'i. She doesn't pick up but she sits there and listens to it with a smile on her face.
The owner of the spa is surprised to see Jimmy. He doesn't offer her much in the way of explanation.
Kim's relationship with Howard continues to be frosty as they work on the Mesa Verde matter.
Mike sets a visit from one of Hector Salamanca's men. Hector wants an answer. Mike says no. Mike forcefully kicks two Salamanca men out of his house that night. They were there to convince him to change his mind. Mike is taking care of Kaylee, the next day, when he sees two men watching him from a nearby rooftop. It is the Salamanca Cousins. They silently threaten him before walking out of sight.
Kim gets a job offer from Richard Schweikart of Schweikart and Cokely, the opposing law firm in the Sandpiper Crossing matter. It is a very tempting offer. She doesn't tell Howard or Chuck. She doesn't know what to do.
Mike meets with Hector Salamanca. The Cousins and Nacho are also there. Hector insists that Mike will go to the police and tell them that the gun is his. Mike finally relents but asks for $50K. Hector balks but ultimately gives in. Nacho delivers the money later that night. Mike gives him $25K to repay him for the money he got for getting Tuco locked up.
Kim reaches out to Jimmy while she is in a hotel bar. She has a mark and wants his help. Jimmy leaves work in the middle of the day, in the middle of a meeting, to join her. They get a check from the guy for $10K. Jimmy winds up spending the night at Kim's place. The next day they part ways to go to their respective jobs. Jimmy, after Kim has left, rips apart the cup holder which won't hold the coffee mug that Kim gave him.
Thoughts
This is episode is third overall appearance of Richard Schweikart. He was last seen in 1.09 (Pimento). The Cousins were last seen in season 3 of Breaking Bad. Their appearances in Breaking Bad took place years after their appearances on Better Call Saul.
Things are going good between Jimmy and Kim. I don't expect that to last. There will be ups and downs in their relationship. If things are up now then they will come down before too long.
Jimmy's decision to rip out the cup holder says to me that he has chosen Kim over Davis and Main.
This episode felt like it was split between Kim's story and Mike's story. Jimmy felt like a supporting character. I'm glad to see that Kim got to be a significant part of this episode.
I'm not sure if there is any significance to the title of this episode other than that it is the name of the song that Jimmy sang to Kim.
