The Night of the Hunters
Commissioner Gordon gets orders from the Mayor to do whatever needs to be done to catch the Batman. Gordon puts Montoya in charge of the case but Batman is a little too smart to fall into the traps that the police set
Montoya brings in Dr. Quinzell and gets her to provide her professional opinion to the squad that are assigned to the Batman case. The doctor suggests that what will really get the Batman's attention is another costumed freak. Bullock and Flass take Dr. Quinzell's idea to heart. They release Firebug who torches a building in a poor neighborhood.
Batman shows up. Gordon finds out what Bullock and Flass are up to but it is too late to stop them. Gordon goes into the burning building after Bullock and Flass and the team of police officers who went in with them. The Batman helps people to escape the burning building, including Gordon.
Bullock and Flass kill Firebug and make the front page. The mayor rewards them by putting them in charge of the task force assigned to capturing the Batman. Gordon, Montoya, and Barbara are crestfallen.
Thoughts
Batman is a supporting character in this story. This reminds me of Gotham Central in that the focus is mostly on the Gotham Police Department. I assume that Batman will be back in the spotlight or the driver's seat in the next episode. There is a slight suggestion that Montoya may have some romantic entanglements with Dr. Quinzell.
I was checking IMDb and noticed that one of the characters is named Eel O'Brien. That was Plastic Man's name before he became a superhero. I think it might be the photographer. Plastic Man was a gangster before he got superpowers and changed sides.
It doesn't look good for the good guys at the moment. How long are the crooked cops (Bullock and Flass) and crooked politicians (Mayor Jessup) going to thrive? When will Harvey Dent step forward and play a major role in an episode? What about Barbara Gordon?
It looks like Harley Quinn is going to be introduced in the next episode.
I didn't think this show could get any better after the last episode. It just did.
