Batman: Caped Crusader 1.05

The Stress of Her Regard

Someone has been convincing rich men to give up all their money. Batman discovers evidence that it might be Harleen Quinzel. It turns out that there is something to the evidence Batman found.

Barbara Gordon starts to suspect that her fiend Harleen might be lying to her. Barbara later finds evidence that she has been lying to her.

Dr. Quinzel asks Detective Montoya out on a date. Their date is going well until until Harleen gets a call. She rushes home only to find that Batman has broken into the secret basement in her house.

Thoughts

There's more but I think that's enough.

Batman does not seem to be the lead. This time it is Harleen Quinzel, Renee Montoya, and Barbara Gordon who seem like the focus of this episode. One of them already has a costumed identity. Will the other two adopt masked personas like they have in the comic books?

Commissioner Gordon plus Detectives Flass and Bullock are in this episode but don't get very big parts to play. Harvey Dent is not in this episode.

there are things about this episode that don't work for me, if I stop to think about it, but I really like it. I especially like the moments that Montoya and Quinzell share. The encounters between Barbara Gordon and the Batman are also good but not of the same nature.

How does this show keep getting better or at the very least maintain such a high level of quality? This show is setting a new high level of quality for superhero cartoons as far as I'm concerned. It probably has something to do with the fact that it doesn't feel like a superhero cartoon.
