My Royal Nemesis 1.02

A Guide to Optimizing Your Fate

Kang Dan-sim talks to Cha Se-gye in his office after the incident outside the building. She tells him about attempts on her own life and how she was able to foresee them. He doubts her and thinks she may have been working with the person who threw the mannequin from the top of the building. He kicks her out but has Son Jae-han, his assistant, drive her home.

When Dan-sim gets to Shin Seo-ri's home she meets Nam Ok-sun, Seo-ri's grandmother, who feeds her, tells her she needs to find a man, and tries to be encouraging before leaving.

Se-gye goes to a small family birthday gathering for Cha Dal-su, his grandfather. Cha Joo-ran and Cha Joo-mi (his aunts) and Mun-Do (cousin) are also present. He doesn't trust any of them. He knows that someone tried to kill him even if he doesn't know who it is that is out to get him.

Dan-sim gets to know the building she lives in and what Seo-ri's life is like. She scoffs at Seo-ri's life at first but bit by bit Dan-sim learns to accept her plight. She wonders why Se-gye hasn't contacted her.

A clip from the shoot in which Dan-sim thought she was going to be be poisoned a second time goes viral. Everyone is out looking for her. She is completely unaware of her new fame. Se-gye's employees want to hire Seo-ri to be one of the faces of the Bioje. He rejects the idea until he has heard it from enough people.

Dan-sim gets a job on a home shopping tv station as an extra who sells things. She is so successful at the job that she is able to get them to agree to pay her seven times the usual rate after they ask her to continue working beyond the end of the one-day contract. Everything is good until she has a flashback on camera to her poisoning. She rushes out of the studio and runs into Se-gye who spotted her on the shopping channel.

Se-gye explains that he wants to hire her but then she has another flashback when she sees Min-do approaching them. She asks Se-gye to protect her.

Thoughts

This was outright silly at times but I love how much Lim Ji-yeon (Kang Dan-sim) commits to the part. The story seems to be taking a step towards the romantic while maintaining the humorous side of the story. Both Se-gye and Mun-do, or at the very least their counterparts in the past, appear in Dan-sim's flashbacks by the end of the episode.
