Justice League Action 1.34

The Cube Root

Dr. Stein teams up with Mr. Terrific, his old college roommate, after he is split from Ronnie Raymond by the Calculator, who also stole Mr. Terrific's T Spheres. They use Stein's invention, S Cubes, to locate and get close enough to the Calculator (who has weaponized the T Spheres) and stop the supervillain.

Thoughts

I like this one a lot. I love how personal it gets between Stein and Terrific. It is also the first time that Ronnie Raymond and Professor Stein have appeared in their human forms in this show.

Justice League Action 1.33

Best Day Ever

Joker uses a mother box to break Lex Luthor out of prison. The Justice League does their best to capture the two villains. Joker's intentions are unclear. It isn't until Luthor uses the mother box to take them to his hideout that Joker's true motivations are revealed.

Thoughts

The superheroes who try to capture the pair of supervillains include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Zatanna, Green Arrow, Cyborg, and Flash. Luthor steps in and and puts an end to Joker's plans after all the heroes have repeatedly failed to make any progress.

Justice League Action 1.32

Boo-ray for Bizarro

Wonder Woman finds herself on a miniature golf date with Bizarro in Paris. She leaves the date and rushes back to the Watchtower when she learns that Amazo (the android who can absorb superpowers) is there attempting to defeat five of her team members (Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter). She doesn't have any more success than they do.

Bizarro rushes to help Wonder Woman. He stops along the way to get someone who he thinks can help, Space Cabbie. Bizarro's twisted world view is absorbed by Amazo and causes him to short circuit.

Thoughts

This was a fun episode but I wouldn't call it great, just mildly amusing.

Justice League Action 1.31

Booster's Gold

Green Arrow runs into Booster Gold, in the Bermuda Triangle, on an island full of dinosaurs. Booster brought the dinosaurs from the past. He got an idea from an old movie he saw to create a theme park populated by dinosaurs. Things don't work out exactly as Booster hoped they would. Booster and Green Arrow spend most of their time running from the dinosaurs.

Thoughts

This was okay. I wouldn't call it good or great. It seemed like a half baked idea. The only other character in this episode was Batman and he was only in it very briefly at the beginning.

Justice League Action 1.30

Supernatural Adventures in Babysitting

Klarion the Witch Boy and Teekl, his cat, cause problems for Stargirl while she is babysitting. She calls Batman for help. Batman answers the call and brings Constantine with him when he learns what sort of a threat Stargirl has encountered.

Thoughts

Teekl has a humanoid form? This is the first time I can recall seeing that, not that Klarion and Teekl have been in a ton of episodes of DC animated shows that I have watched.

Considering how reckless the kid whom Stargirl was babysitting was it’s a wonder that everything wasn’t destroyed during the fight. Also how is it that a spell can simply restore things that have been broken? Is it like a time travel thing because otherwise I’m not sure how you can restore the craftsmanship that went into creating many items.

This was a fun episode. It was good but not great.

Justice League Action 1.29

Mxy’s Mix-Up

Batman, Superman, and Stargirl are defending the United Nations building from an attack by Gorilla Grodd and a few dozen of his gorilla warriors when Mr. Mxyptlk shows up. His first trick is to give all three heroes facial hair. His second trick is to cause the three heroes to swap bodies. Batman winds up in Stargirl’s body, Stargirl in Superman’s body, and Superman in Batman’s body. Hilarity ensues with only Batman (in Stargirl’s body) is anywhere near as effective as he was in his own body.

Batman picks up on a suggestion that Stargirl makes and summons more heroes including Firestorm. Mr. Mxyptlk uses the same trick on Firestorm and the six other heroes that arrive with him. Dr. Stein, the other half of Firestorm’s personality, winds up in Mr. Mxyptlk’s head and tricks him into saying his name backwards.

Justice League Action 1.28

The Fatal Fare

Superman boards one of Darkseid's battle cruisers that is ready to jump through a Boom Tube to Earth. Superman interferes with the Boom Tube to the degree that it doesn't take them to Earth but he gets captured by DeSaad and Kanto.

Darkseid gets a ride from Space Cabbie to the fourth moon of Graxos IV. He tells Space Cabbie not to stick around but when Space Cabbie catches up to Darkseid, who forgot his receipt, his discovers that Darkseid, Kanto, and DeSaad are holding Superman prisoner in a cave.

Darkseid asks Space Cabbie to take Kanto back to Apokolips. Space Cabbie talks Kanto into making a stop on a swamp planet but tricks him by taking him to Earth instead. Swamp Thing, Wonder Woman, and Hawkman are waiting for them. Kanto is captured and then Space Cabbie takes them back to the fourth moon of Graxos IV to rescue Superman.

Justice League Action 1.27

Time Out

Batman, Wonder Woman, and Booster Gold have just defeated H.I.V.E. when a temporal abnormality freezes Wonder Woman and everything else expect Batman and Booster Gold. They flee to Vanishing Point, Booster's secret headquarters where they regroup and attempt to deal with the problem. Batman comes to a greater understanding of who Booster is and what he does but in the end doesn't remember that after Booster fixes everything.

Thoughts

This was a so-so episode up to the moment when Batman realizes that he has been wrong about Booster Gold. It got even better when Batman's memory gets wiped of his new found knowledge.

This was really good, probably one of my favorites so far.

Justice League Action 1.26

All Aboard the Space Train

Space Cabbie helps Batman and Cyborg catch up to the Space Train which has been hijacked by Kanjar Ro. Space Cabbie in turn gets some help from someone who is already aboard the train but frozen stiff.

Thoughts

What was the mystery guest star doing aboard the Space Train? Why did Kanjar Ro and his henchmen hijack the Space Train?

This wasn't great but it was fun. I liked the reveal of the mystery guest. I'm glad I didn't read the description of the episode before watching it because it gave away the mystery guest star's identity.

Justice League Action 1.25

Garden of Evil

Vixen, Superman, and Firestorm battle Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Swamp Thing, and a slew of giant plants while Batman works on cure to break Poison Ivy's hold on Swamp Thing.

Thoughts

Heroes battle villains until heroes win. I'm not so crazy about this episode.

Justice League Action 1.24

Battle for the Bottled City

Superman shrinks down and visits the bottled city of Kandor. Brainiac picks this moment to infiltrate the Fortress of Solitude. The Atom and Cyborg are the only resistance he meets. Brainiac takes the bottled city for his collection, after dealing with the two heroes. Cyborg is immobilized. Atom recovers and uses a Superman robot to fight with Brainiac until Superman himself returns from the bottle and deals with Brainiac himself.

Thoughts

This wasn't bad but it wasn't the best. There was little to nothing in the way of character moments. Superman's visit to Kandor was cut extremely short by Brainiac's interference.

Justice League Action 1.23

Double Cross

Penguin hires Deadshot to capture Two-Face. Batman works with Firestorm and Plastic Man to capture Deadshot. Firestorm keeps an eye on Two-Face while Plastic Man impersonates Two-Face to lure Deadshot out of the shadows.

Thoughts

How is it that Professor Stein was there early on but then vanished when Ronnie decided to turn his back on Two-Face? I would think he would have counseled Ronnie against making such a big mistake.

Not great. The best part was the juxtaposition of Two-Face (with his two personalities) with Firestorm who is made up of two people, but there wasn't enough of it. The rest of the episode didn't do it for me.

Justice League Action 1.22

Inside Job

Lex Luthor infects Superman's body with a swarm of nanobots. Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Atom shrink down and enter Superman's blood stream in order to help Superman's immune system deal with the invasive force. Red Tornado stays behind on the Watchtower in case anything else comes up.

Thoughts

This episode was okay. It isn't a favorite. There wasn't enough humor or character moments or interesting plot twists for me. I feel like I've seen this done before and possibly done better.

Justice League Action 1.21

The Trouble with Truth

HIVE planted a bomb somewhere in Metropolis. Superman is on New Genesis so it is up Wonder Woman, Batman, and Green Arrow to find the bomb before it is too late. The trio is joined on their quest by the goddess Athena.

Thoughts

The HIVE Master looks a little like Steven Seagal.

I really like the humor in this episode but on the whole it was decent but not great.

Justice League Action 1.20

Freezer Burn

Ronnie Raymond, half of Firestorm, has a crush on Killer Frost. Professor Stein doesn't approve of Ronnie's feelings for her and neither does Killer Frost.

Killer Frost is more interested in Mr. Freeze but she reconsiders her feelings for him after he knocks her out and forces her to become the power source for his new airship. Firestorm and Batman team up to free Killer Frost and stop Mr. Freeze from wrecking havoc.

Thoughts

This was a fun episode. Batman is in it but it is really Firestorm's episode.

Justice League Action 1.19

Rage of the Red Lanterns

Lobo arrives on Earth. A handful of Red Lanterns (Atrocitus, Bleez, Zilius Zox, Dex-Starr, Skallox) are after him. He has stolen three of their rings. Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and Batman are on duty at the Watchtower when Lobo arrives minutes ahead of the Red Lanterns.

Lobo claims to not know why the Red Lanterns are after him. He makes it look like the Justice League stole the missing rings. Lobo steals the Spider Gauntlet from the Watchtower while the Justice League and the Red Lanterns are fighting. Batman was examining the Spider Gauntlet when Lobo arrived.

The Spider Gauntlet gives Lobo great power. The Justice League and the Red Lanterns team up to defeat him.

Justice League Action 1.18

Plastic Man Saves the World

Brainiac attacks Metropolis. He plans to shrink it and put it in a bottle. Superman, Batman, Vixen, and Cyborg defend the city but someone else saves the day.

Thoughts

This was a decent episode. It went a little too heavy on the silly humor for me to appreciate it quite as much as some might.

Justice League Action 1.17

Luthor in Paradise

Lex Luthor invades Paradise Island, with some help from Circe. They are there for Queen Hippolyta's staff which can lead the to the Oculus of Argo, an ancient artifact which will give them the power of Zeus. Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman try to stop the supervillains.

Luthor and Circe get the staff and make their way to the Fallen Realm, the dimension where the artifact can be found. Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman (with some help from Queen Hippolyta) follow the supervillains to the Fallen Realm but don't arrive in time to prevent Luthor and Circe from getting their hands on the Oculus of Argo.

Justice League Action 1.16

Field Trip

Superman gives Firestorm, Blue Beetle, and Star Girl a tour of the Fortress of Solitude. The trio of young heroes inadvertently and simultaneously release the trio of criminals from the Phantom Zone and trap Superman in the Phantom. Zone. The trio of young heroes recapture the Phantom Zone criminals without any assistance or advice from Superman, although it takes numerous efforts before they are able to get the job done.

Thoughts

I guess that the titular field trip was to the Fortress of Solitude although the episode starts there. They don't show the trip to the Fortress of Solitude. Superman, in a sense, takes a field trip to the Phantom Zone but they don't show that trip.

This was a decent episode. Not great but decent.

Justice League Action 1.15

Hat Trick

Felix Faust steals Zatanna's top hat. He uses it to summon a giant insect-like creature from another dimension. The beast grants Felix his wish and makes him young again. The beast then leaves. Batman and the Demon follow the beast and try to prevent it from harming anyone while Zatanna stays put and duels with Felix Faust.

Thoughts

Zatanna proves to be very athletic and acrobatic as she ducks and dodges Faust's attacks. The Demon and Batman aren't given quite as much to do.

I like this episode very much. It features the same three members of the team as in the last episode but this one is head and shoulders above that one.
