Shock to the System
Virgil Hawkins was just a regular teenager. He had a crush on Frieda Goren, one of his classmates, but was too indecisive to ask her to the dance. He got on the bad side of F-Stop, the school bully. Wade, another classmate, protected Virgil but then insisted that he join his gang.
Virgil gets caught in the middle of a fight between the two gangs. He gets doused in chemicals at the rumble and develops superpowers that allow him to shoot lightning bolts from his hands and control objects magnetically. Virgil puts together a costume with the help of his friend Richie and becomes a superhero. Virgil also uses his powers to help and impress Frieda.
Virgil doesn't know it but he isn't the only one to develop superpowers. F-Stop was also doused with the chemicals during the fight but his powers are more fiery.
Thoughts
I have seen a few episodes of Static Shock before but this is my first time seeing this one.
Virgil tries wearing a costume that looks just like the one that Black Vulcan wore on Super Friends but Richie quickly nixes that one.
