Counterpart 1.06

Act Like You've Been Here Before

Ian finds out that Howard and Emily shook down Edgar for information.

Peter Quayle gets complaints from Howard's supervisor that he hasn't been showing up for work. He finds Howard Prime in his counterpart's apartment. Howard has found documents in the files that Emily had hidden. They come from Quayle's department. He urges Quayle to figure out who stole them.

Howard Silk goes out for coffee. He is approached by Ian and two of his goons. Ian wants answers. They take Howard in for questioning.

Anna goes to see Emily, her mother. Anna is concerned about Howard. Emily cautions her not to put too much faith in Howard's apparent change of heart.

Clare sees on the news that the killer she sent after Baldwin is dead.

Baldwin (aka Nadia Prime) goes to her counterpart's funeral. She stays out of sight but she observes from a close enough distance to hear a former lover make a tearful confession.

Baldwin catches up to Clare in a supermarket. Clare tries to apologize. Baldwin doesn't want to hear it. She offers to finish the job she was originally contracted to do but only if Clare will pay her as originally promised. Clare agrees to Baldwin's terms.

Baldwin catches up to Greta, the waitress who helped her out in the previous episode. She repays her for the free meal. Greta invites her to a party. They go back to Greta's place afterwards and get into bed together. Baldwin stashes her gun under the bed.

Ian interrogates Howard. Most of the questions are about things that only Howard Prime would know. Howard eventually starts pushing back. Emily shows up before the session gets much further.

Aldrich informally questions Lamar, the lover of Walter, a former colleague of his. Aldrich talks to Max, one of his men afterwards. Aldrich suspects that Quayle may be the mole.

Howard Prime gets a call from Heinrich's wife. He goes to see her. Heinrich is dead. His body is in the back. She tells Howard that the only other person who came to see Heinrich was Quayle. Howard does what he can and then tells her to call the police. He confronts Quayle and warns him he'd better step up the pace of his search for the mole.

Emily, Howard, Ian, and a few of Ian's men head out to the address in Pottsdam that She and Howard got from Edgar. They see, from a distance, men burning documents.

Quayle goes home. and sees evidence that someone in his household maybe the one making copies of secret documents. The episode ends with him checking on his wife, Clare.

Thoughts

That was a pretty big reveal at the end of the episode. Maybe I should have seen it coming but I did not.

I've got a feeling that Baldwin is using Greta but I'm not certain.

Howard still doesn't seem to have considered the possibility that his Emily may be just as devious as Emily Prime. His Emily, of course, is still in a coma.

I like the way this show is cut. Things are constantly moving. It keeps me on my toes. I once again watched this episode twice. I didn't make any notes until the second watch through.

My faith in this show is growing even though I know that it will eventually end abruptly.
