Sgt Bilko tries to rig the competition for the soldier who will be on the Army's newest recruiting poster. Bilko's plan doesn't go according to schedule. Pvt Doberman wins the competition.
Thoughts
This episode didn't start to get remotely funny until Doberman won the contest. It felt like most of the episode was set up for a single joke at the end of the episode. I think I might have enjoyed it more if I thought the set up was funny, but I didn't.
This is the first episode of the second season in which Colonel Hall appears.
This is the second episode in season two and the eigth episode overall in which MSgt Joan Hogan appears. She was in a total of 18 episodes.
John Boruff plays the part of the Major. This is the second of seven appearances he made on the show. He was previously seen in 1.25 (The Court Martial).
Nelson Olmsted plays the part of the Captain. This is the first of eleven appearances he made on the show. He appeared on lots of television shows including Batman, The Wild, Wild West, and The Invaders.
Tom Poston plays the part of Lieutenant Franklin. He was a regular on Mork & Mindy and Newhart. This is the first of two episodes in which he appears. The other episode is also from season two.
Jim White plays the part of General Kramer. This episode is his only screen credit according to IMDb.
Eric Fleming plays the part of Private Mike McCluskey, the soldier whom Bilko hopes will win the contest to be on the recruiting poster. This is the third and final appearance Fleming made on the show. The other two episodes in which he appeared (Hollywood, The Recruiting Sergeant) were both from the first season of the show.
