Counterpart 1.10

No Man's Land, Part Two

Howard Prime escapes the building in the aftermath of the attack. Angel Eyes, the attacker who made it into the crossing is still alive. He makes his way to the wall but people from both sides leave him there.

Clare's father gives a statement to the press that there was just one attacker, a disgruntled employee. Peter and Clare, both survived the crash. She has bruises and cuts but nothing too serious. She heads home after she has been bandaged. He has his arm in a sling but he is able to leave the hospital later that day. She advises him to go straight into the office once he leaves the hospital, which he does. 

Groups meet on both sides to discuss what happened in the Alpha universe and what to do about it. Emily and Ian, in the Prime universe, report their finding about the school to the meeting. Peter is in the meeting on the Alpha side. Upper management, which participates in the meeting through an intermediary, turns to Peter for his opinion. He recommends doing nothing. Both sides decide to do the same thing, nothing.

Counterpart 1.09

No Man's Land, Part One

Seven Weeks Ago. Howard Alpha meets Andrei for the first time, in the hospital while Howard was waiting to find out if she would survive. She had just been hit by a car.

Present. Peter Quayle calls Howard Prime. He warns him that Aldrich and his men are coming for him. Quayle tells Howard to come see him, at his home.

Ian confronts Alexander Pope. Ian wants to know where Casper is. Pope has backup to protect him. Pope tells Ian that Howard isn't who he seems to be. Ian ends up leaving without any information on the whereabouts of Casper.

Baldwin visits the three agents. She has finished off their counterparts. She gives them the personal effects and identification that belonged to their counterparts.

Emily, Ian, and his men intercept a coded communication between Casper and Pope. They are able to decipher the message and it points them to a meeting at Potsdamer Platz Station at 11 AM. Howard wants to accompany them but Ian says no. Emily agrees with Ian.

The three agents get ready to assume their counterpart's identity's. One of them is working in the same building where Quayle works.

Greta takes Baldwin clothes shopping. It makes Baldwin uncomfortable. Baldwin is spotted by Sofia, her counterpart's girlfriend. Sofia wants to know what is going on. Baldwin plays stupid. Sofia stomps off. Greta is confused.

Counterpart 1.08

Love the Lie

Howard Alpha, Emily Prime, Ian, and Ian's men see people burning documents outside the school in Pottsdam. The teachers at the school were warned. They arm themselves when they see that they have company. They fight back. Some of them are killed by Ian and his men, others commit suicide. Two of the teachers, one of whom was Clare's teacher, escape. A pile dead children is found in the basement when they search the house afterwards. Emily, Ian, and the others piece together what the school was all about. 

Howard Prime gets word that Emily Alpha has woken up. He goes to the hospital and finds her mother with her. Emily is awake but she is not speaking and does not seem to be aware of what is going on around her. Charlotte Burton and Howard are not on good terms. She wants to move Emily. Howard refuses to let that happen. 

Peter Quayle talks to Clare. He doesn't know what to do with her. He has handcuffed her to a door. She lies to him when he asks her about what happened to Clare Alpha. She tells him that the other Clare was relocated to her world. He wants to turn her in but he doesn't know what to do. She talks to him, points out how his life and their daughter's life will be destroyed if he turns her in.

Emily points out to Ian that there is only one person who knew they were coming, the interrogator. She talks Ian into not reporting in what they have found. They find some documents that were not destroyed including pictures of one of the three agents who recently crossed over. Emily and Howard leave together and head back to Berlin. Howard gets confirmation that the man in the picture crossed over.

Counterpart 1.07

The Sincerest Form of Flattery

1997. Young Clare is sent to a boarding school after her parents die from the flu epidemic. She is trained to be just like her counterpart. She has a friend named Spencer. They break Clare's legs after they learn that her counterpart's legs were recently broken in a skiing accident. Spencer disappears. Clare is told that Spencer was sent to live on the other side. She never sees him again.

Clare grows up at the school. She continues to study everything about her counterpart. When she gets old enough she becomes a teacher at the school. She stays there until one day in 2013 when they tell her that it is time. Clare Alpha is engaged to marry Peter Quayle. This is an excellent opportunity to place her. 

Present. Peter gets Clare to go out and buy him cigars before the party. He doesn't have any of the kind that her father likes. Actually he does but he hides them. Peter gets Howard Prime to come to the house while Clare is out. They search the house. They find a cyanide pill but nothing else incriminating.

Counterpart 1.06

Act Like You've Been Here Before

Ian finds out that Howard and Emily shook down Edgar for information. 

Peter Quayle gets complaints from Howard's supervisor that he hasn't been showing up for work. He finds Howard Prime in his counterpart's apartment. Howard has found documents in the files that Emily had hidden. They come from Quayle's department. He urges Quayle to figure out who stole them.

Howard Silk goes out for coffee. He is approached by Ian and two of his goons. Ian wants answers. They take Howard in for questioning. 

Anna goes to see Emily, her mother. Anna is concerned about Howard. Emily cautions her not to put too much faith in Howard's apparent change of heart.

Clare sees on the news that the killer she sent after Baldwin is dead. 

Baldwin (aka Nadia Prime) goes to her counterpart's funeral. She stays out of sight but she observes from a close enough distance to hear a former lover make a tearful confession. 

Counterpart 1.05

Shaking the Tree

A team of three agents (2 men, 1 woman) come over from the other side. They obtain an apartment, kill the guy who leases it to them, and await orders.

Howard Prime runs into and plays Go with Andrei. Howard almost beats Andrei but Howard makes a fatal error as the game is winding down. Howard goes to see Emily Silk after the game. She is still in a coma. He talks to her like she can hear him. He is frustrated.

Heinrich, Howard Prime's friend who runs a butchery, gets approached by Claire. She knows that he recently spoke to Howard Prime. She wants to know what Howard told them. He refuses to tell her anything. He looks as though he knows his fate is sealed.

Howard Silk goes looking for Anna without success. He stops by the riverfront spot where he usually plays Go with Andrei. There is no one there when he arrives but then Alexander Pope shows up. Pope knows that Howard is not Howard Prime. He warns Howard about Emily before going on his way. 

Quayle has a chat with Aldrich while the other housecleaners are sweeping the office looking for evidence. Quayle tells Aldrich what he knows about the mole. Aldrich thinks about it for a moment and then takes Quayle with him, to a place far outside of town.

Counterpart 1.04

Both Sides Now

Howard Silk crosses over to the other side. Howard Prime doesn't give him much to go on. Raash meets him and then locks him up in an apartment. 

Howard Prime takes Howard Silk's place. He tries going in to the office but when he sees the sort of work he's expected to do he takes a walk. Peter Quayle catches up to him on the street. He warns him about being too conspicuous.

Howard Silk gets a visit from Anna, Howard Prime's adult daughter. She wants his help. Emily Prime is in the hospital. It looks like she overdosed, again. Anna doesn't really want her father's help. She pushes back when he tries to act helpful.

Howard Prime goes to see Heinrich, an old friend from his side who has crossed over and made a life in Howard Silk's world. They talk and share a drink.

Ian is also at the hospital. He resents that Howard is there. Howard backs off and spends some time with Anna in the waiting room. She doesn't understand why he is trying to be helpful.

Counterpart 1.03

The Lost Art of Diplomacy

Six weeks ago. Emily gets hit by a car. She is rushed to the hospital. Howard comes to see her in the hospital but she is in a coma.

Present. Baldwin is in the hands of the police. They don't know who she is. She killed a police officer and she has the same fingerprints as the dead woman. That is all they know.

Quayle, Aldrich, and the two Howards meet to discuss what to do next. Howard Prime is fed up with Aldrich. Prime volunteers to go to his embassy and have a chat with the ambassador. Howard Silk goes with Aldrich to the police station where he has a chat with Baldwin.

Howard Prime gets detained at the embassy by Claude Lambert, the ambassador. They hold him there until an interrogation team arrive from the Prime universe. Emily and Ian, her lover, are the team. 

Quayle meets with Roland Fancher, his father-in-law. Roland has a meeting arranged with the ambassador and he wants Peter with him. The ambassador wants Baldwin returned. Roland plays hardball. It doesn't look like the two sides are going to be able to come to an agreement but in the end they do. Quayle isn't happy about it but he doesn't have a choice.

Counterpart 1.02

Birds of a Feather

Emily Prime tries to take Howard Prime into custody. She has an order for his capture. He kills her men and escapes. He meets with Alexander Pope who has obtained a 36-hour pass for him to the other side. Another contact gets him Baldwin's real name. Emily Prime gets reprimanded by her superiors.

Howard Prime crosses back over. He gets Aldrich to get Howard Silk. Prime refuses to do anything until Howard is involved. Nadia Fierro, Baldwin's counterpart, is a concert violinist. They watch her rehearse from a distance.

Howard Prime approaches Nadia in a bar without revealing who he is. Howard goes with Aldrich and some of Aldrich's men to dig through Nadia's apartment while she is in the bar. They find her childhood home address and head there in the hopes that they will find Baldwin there. 

Baldwin has been given orders to kill Nadia. She is reluctant. She goes to Nadia's apartment and gets there in time to see Howard and Aldrich leaving. She searches around. Nadia and Baldwin share flashbacks to their past. Their fathers were very strict with them. They saw their fathers die before their eyes and stood by when they could have done something to save them.

Baldwin causes a commotion and grabs Nadia. She heads into the concert hall. She has both the police and Aldrich and his men on her tail, although the two groups aren't working together. One of Aldrich's men kills Nadia. Aldrich gave the order and he shrugs off the loss. Howard slugs him.

Counterpart 1.01

The Crossing

Howard Silk has been working for the same company for almost 3 decades. He applies for a new position within the company but is denied the chance to interview for the job. The next day he is ushered into a secret meeting with his boss and someone from "housekeeping" and a man who looks like Howard's twin.

Howard quickly learns that the man who looks just like him is from another world. The portal to that world is in the building where he works. The other man is also named Howard Silk. They share the same name but their lives have taken different paths. The other Howard (aka Prime) is there chasing an assassin named Baldwin. Prime thinks that she is going to try and kill Emily, Howard's wife.

Emily is in the hospital in a coma. She was hit by a car six weeks before. Prime's Emily is dead. She died of cancer. Howard has been going to visit Emily in the hospital every night after work. Prime insists that he take Howard's place that night. Howard gives him clothes and tells him everything that he needs to know about the hospital.
