Gandal and Zuril come up with a new plan to defeat Grendizer and Double Spazer. They plan to send Saucer Beast Wra Wra to distract Grendizer and Double Spazer. While the two protectors of Earth are distracted the Vegans plan will send a secondary force to attack the Space Center.

Daisuke, Danbei, Goro, and Kouji go to see Hikaru compete in a gymnastics competition. She takes first place. She thinks she is ready to join Daisuke and Kouji is defending the Earth from the Vegans but Daisuke disagrees.

Daisuke gets word from Professor Umon that a UFO is headed their way. He heads to the Space Center but he leaves Hikaru behind. Grendizer and Double Spazer investigate the UFO but it leaves before they can catch it. They don't see it dropping off a small detachment of Vegan forces.

Hikaru and Danbei are out in the woods when they are spotted by the small detachment of Vegans. They evade the Vegans but they later catch up to them and see them plotting to do something to the Space Center. 

Saucer Beast Wra Wra attacks a nearby city. Grendizer and Double Spazer go after it. Their first attempts at subduing it aren't very successful but they at least manage to draw it away from the city.

Hikaru finds Daisuke's Duke Buggy. She uses it to draw the Vegans away from the Space Center. She uses it's weapons to fight back at them. She isn't able to destroy them all but she delays them long enough that Grendizer and Double Spazer are able to deal with the Saucer Beast and then arrive back at the Space Center in time to deal with the other Vegans.

Daisuke admits at the end that he was wrong about not letting Hikaru join him and Kouji in defending the Earth.

Thoughts

This is a key episode, probably because Hikaru demonstrated her abilities and used the Duke Buggy to help defend the Space Center.

Danbei gets to use his ninja skills in this episode. You never know what you are going to get with that character. One minute he is a loud mouth who seems to be there mostly for humor and the next he's a ninja.

On the whole this was an okay episode. Not bad by this show's standards. It isn't a favorite of mine but it does introduce or show some new elements.
