Maya Gallo (Laura San Giacomo) loses her job writing for a TV station after she tricks one of the anchors into reading something embarrasing on live television. She can't find a new job and winds up turning to Jack Gallo (George Segal), her father the successful owner of a fashion magazine, for a job.
Maya hasn't seen her father for over a year. He is married to one of her high school classmates. She also meets three of her father's employees: Dennis Finch (David Spade), Nina Van Horn (Wendie Mallick), and Elliot DiMauro (Enrico Colantoni).
Chris Hogan plays Maya's roommate. He was a regular on Third Rock from the Sun where he played a student in Dick's class in 41 episodes. This is the first of 7 episodes of this show in which he appears.
Emily Procter plays the anchorwoman. She had a recurring role in The West Wing. Most of the 12 episodes of that show in which she appeared were in the second season. This is her first of two appearances in this show.
I used to watch this show when it first aired. I don't recall if I saw this episode before. I'm not sure how many episodes I watched in the late 1990s to early 2000s or possibly later in reruns.
This was fun to see again. I like how the cast meshes together. There are just 5 more episodes in the first season. The seasons after that all have 22 or more episodes.
