The Road Not Taken

Ed and Gordon, on the run from the Kaylons, run into Kelly, Claire, John, Talla, and Claire's sons. Kelly explains to them how none of this was supposed to happen. It only happened because the memory wipe didn't work and she decided not to go on a second date with Ed. The Kaylon weren't defeated and now they are destroying as much as they can.

John leads them to the resistance to the Kaylon. It is lead by Alara Kitan. They get from her something that they need to help reset things back to the way they were. They leave as the Kaylon finds them. Alara, the rebel fighters, and the rebel base are destroyed. Ed, Kelly, and the others escape but the Kaylong are hot on their trail.

The Orville 2.13

Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

The Orville goes through a time distortion while Isaac and John are working on a temporal experiment. Nothing has changed except that Kelly from seven years ago, the morning after her first date with Ed, appears on the Orville.

Present Kelly is disturbed by having a prior version of herself around. Past Kelly isn't exactly overjoyed to be separated from the life she knew. Present Kelly lectures Past Kelly on a lot of things. Past Kelly decides to go on a second date with Ed.

Ed has fun with Past Kelly but ultimately realizes that it doesn't feel right. He's already been through a lot of things with Present Kelly, some of which he doesn't want to experience all over again with Past Kelly.

Sanctuary

Bortus helps a couple Moclans who are transporting a female child to go undetected while aboard the Orville. He gets dressed down by Captain Mercer after the Moclans have left for not sharing the secret with him. Ed points out that Bortus did not verify that the Moclans were on the up and up, he just accepted their word that they were being honest with him.

Topa, Bortus' son, has trouble in school after he shoves a girl and calls her inferior because she is a girl. Tope learned such behavior from Klyden. This makes Bortus angry and he has words with Klyden after sending Topa to his room.

Lasting Impressions

The Orville transports a time capsule that includes a mobile phone from 2015. Gordon and John help to unlock the phone. They watch one of the videos that was saved on the phone. It belonged to a woman in her mid to late-20s names Laura.

Gordon becomes curious about Laura. He wants to know more about her so he takes the phone to the simulator and has it make a simulation that uses all of her messages, videos, and vocal recordings to recreate her and her world.

Bortus discovers cigarettes in the time capsule. He has the food syntheziser make him more cigarettes. Bortus and Klyden start smoking and are soon addicted to cigarettes.

The Orville 2.10

The Blood of Patriots

The Orville is sent to help negotiate a preliminary peace treaty with the Krill but on the way there they encounter a Krill shuttle being pursued by a much larger Krill ship. Captain Mercer decides to let the shuttle land in the Orville's docking station.

There are two humans on board. One of them is Orrin Channing, a friend of Gordon who spent 20 years in a Krill prison. The other is Leyna, Orrin's daughter. The Krill accuse Orrin of destroying three Krill ships and demand that he be returned to them. The Ed insists that they will need some time to think it over. The Krill them 12 hours.

Identity - Part 2

The crew of the Orville are held prisoner in the shuttle bay. The Kaylons eventually take the bridge crew to a meeting room. The Kaylons explain to them how it is going to work. The bridge crew doesn't like it but they don't feel as though they have a choice.

The Roosevelt, another ship from Earth, approaches the Orville. The bridge crew to the Orville are forced to act like nothing is wrong. Captain Mercer talks to Captain Marcos and tells him that everything is good but he sneaks in a code phrase that tells Captain Marcos that all is not good.

The Orville 2.08

Identity - Part 1

Isaac stops functioning. The crew of the Orville can't figure out how to help him. Captain Mercer, after consulting with the Admiral Halsey, sets a course for Kaylon 1, Isaac's home world.

The Orville arrives on Kaylon 1. They bring the comatose Isaac out of the ship with them. The Kaylons bring Isaac back online. Captain Mercer expresses thanks and invites Isaac to rejoin them aboard the Orville but Isaac says his mission is over.

Ty and Marcus, Dr. Finn's sons, are disappointed to learn that Isaac will not be coming back to the Orville. Isaac explains his reasons to them in person but it doesn't make them feel any better. Ty takes it especially hard. Dr. Finn is also very hurt by Isaac's decision to leave the Orville.

The Orville 2.07

Deflectors

Kelly breaks up with Cassius. He doesn't take it well. He tries to talk her into taking him back. 

Locar, Bortus' ex, comes aboard the Orville to help upgrade the ship's deflectors. Bortus is not happy to have Locar aboard the Orville. 

Locar expresses an interest in Talla. Locar is attracted to females which is unusual for Moclans. Talla doesn't know how to respond at first but later decides to show Locar the simulator. They step into a simulation of a city in the United States, just after World War 2 has ended. She shows him how to dance.

Talla is called away. She leaves Locar in the simulation. Klyden walks into the simulator after Talla has left and accuses Locar of being disgusting for being interested in females. Locar disappears, soon thereafter, and the simulator playback reveals that Klyden killed Locar.

Talla investigates the death of Locar. She tries to determine what happened and if Klyden was really the killer.

Thoughts

This was another quality episode. It dealt with some heavy material. I thought the performances and character moments were all very good. There weren't as many laughs in this episode as in the previous one.

The Orville 2.06

A Happy Refrain

Claire develops feelings for Isaac. She consults with Kelly and then asks Isaac out on a date. The date goes okay. It ends with them having dinner in one of the simulators but Claire isn't satisfied and doesn't ask for another date.

Isaac gets pointers from John, who has some suggestions as to how to proceed. Isaac puts John's ideas into action and invites Claire out on a date. She shows up and it goes much better than their first date did. 

Isaac decides that he's learned all that he needs from his relationship and decides it is time to end his relationship with Claire. He turns once again to John for advice.

The Orville 2.05

All the World is Birthday Cake

The Orville is contacted by the people of Regor 2, a planet that has never been visited by aliens before. Captain Mercer leads a team of five to the planet's surface. Everything goes beautifully until Kelly mentions that her birthday is just a few days away and that Bortus' birthday is a few days after that. 

Kelly and Bortus are thrown in a prison camp with other people, all of whom were born under the sign of Giliac. Ed tries to negotiate for their release but the leader of Regor 2 refuses to budge on the matter. 

The Orville 2.04

Nothing Left on Earth Excepting Fishes

Captain Mercer is in a relationship with Lieutenant Janel Tyler. They decide to go public with it. Ed first tells Gordon and then Kelly, both of whom are happy for him. Ed and Janel go on a vacation together. They take off in a shuttle for a distant world while the Orville continues on a supply mission.

Gordon decides that he wants to apply for training make him eligible for command in the future. He doesn't prove to be very good at it but it does seem to improve his confidence.

Ed and Janel are attacked by Krill warships and taken prisoner. Janel turns out to be a Krill named Teleya, disguised as a human, whom Ed met in episode 1.06 (Krill). She was a teacher then but now she is a warrior. The Krill warship that they are aboard is attacked by the Chak'tal, a race that is in a dispute with the Krill.

The Orville 2.03

Home

The Orville takes Alara back to Xelaya, her home planet because she needs to reacclimate to its strong gravity. She stays with her parents and her older sister who are happy to see her. Alara doesn't like the way they treat her. She has to ride around in a wheelchair, because she hasn't reacclimated to Xelaya's gravity.

The family goes to their vacation home which is on a deserted island. They aren't there for long before a couple whom they have never met before shows up. Cambis and Floratta Borrin. They seem nice at first but things get ugly after Cambis reveals that Alara's father is to blame for their son's death by suicide.

Alara recovers from her weakened state sufficiently that she is able to defend her sister and her parents from the intruders. Alara is given a chance to return to the Orville but decides instead to stay on Xelaya with her parents.

The Orville 2.02

Primal Urges

Bortus avoids Klyden, his mate, and indulges in sexual fantasies in one of the Orville's simulators. Klyden doesn't know exactly what Bortus is up to but he tries to kill Bortus. It is the Machlan way of divorcing someone. Dr. Finn saves Bortus' life. Captain Mercer orders Bortus and Klyden to go to couples counseling.

The crew of the Orville discovers a small group of people underground on a planet that is no more than a day away from getting destroyed by the star the planet orbits. The Orville contacts the people on the planet and plans a rescue mission.

A shuttle is sent to bring as many people back to the Orville as possible. Everything does not go as planned. Bortus' sexual addiction is partly to blame.

The Orville 2.01

Ja'loja

Bortus invites Captain Mercer and the officers of the Orville to Ja'loja, a ceremony on a planet of his choosing where he will urinate. Bortus and his kind only urinates once a year.

Kelly reveals to Ed that she is dating someone on board but won't tell him who. He finds out by spying on her but she catches him in the act. Her new boyfriend is more understanding than she is which makes Kelly angrier than she already was.

Dr. Finn's older son gets caught with a couple of his friends drinking vodka that they cooked up using a replicator. The parents of one of the other boys think that Marcus, Claire's son, is the one who rigged the repicator. She turns to Isaac for help.
