Bleach 35 / 2.15

Aizen Assassinated! The Darkness which Approaches

Fifth Squad's Lieutenant Momo Hinamori screams when she sees Captain Aizen dead, pinned to the wall. She remembers what Tenth Squad's Captain Tōshirō Hitsugaya told her the day before about Third Squad Captain Gin Ichimaru. She attempts to strike Ichimaru down but Third Squad Lieutenant Izuru Kira steps between her and his captain and parries her strike. Momo unleashes her Zanpakutō. Izuru quickly follows suit but Captain Hitsugaya steps in and breaks up the fight before it can go any further. He orders those standing around to lock up both lieutenants.

Sado (aka Chad) recalls one of his first meetings with Ichigo who insists on calling him Chad, even though that's not his name. Sado's reverie is interrupted by a visit from some Shinigami who are looking for the Ryoka like him. He defeats them quite easily and then heads for the Senzaikyū after learning where he can find it.

Ichigo, Ganju, and Hanatarō also head for the Senzaikyū. They climb up the long flight of stairs that leads part of the way to the tower where Rukia is being held. They stop when they sense great Reiatsu (or spiritual pressure) nearby.

Thoughts

Still no sign of Orihime, Uryu, or Yoruichi in this episode. Sado, at least, gets the spotlight for a few minutes.

The only real action in this episode is the almost fight between the two lieutenants. Sado's fight with the Shinigami takes place mostly off screen.

I've watched these episodes before and read the chapters of the manga upon which they are based but I don't recall exactly how things go from here. It isn't so much the ultimate outcome that I don't recall as much as it is all the twists and turns on the way there.

I'm enjoying rewatching this show very much. It still lives up to my memories of it.
