The Twilight Zone (1959) 1.09

Perchance to Dream

starring Richard Conte
directed by Robert Florey

A man goes to see a psychiatrist. He hasn't slept in almost four days. He's afraid of falling asleep because of the dreams he's been having. He tells the psychiatrist about the dreams. His plan doesn't exactly work.

Thoughts

There wasn't enough here to hook me. There was a twist ending but it wasn't too surprising. It didn't add a layer to the story that made it seem worthwhile to me. I was left feeling like there was something missing.

Notes

This is the only episode of this show in which Richard Conte appeared. He also appeared in one episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955). He's also been in a few movies I have seen including Thieves Highway (1949).

John Larch played the part of the psychiatrist. This is the first of three episodes of this show in which he appeared. He also appeared in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and an episode of The Invaders, 1.05 Genesis.

This is the first of three episodes of this show that Robert Florey directed. He also directed most of the first season of Four Star Playhouse. See my notes about the first episode of FSP, 1.01 My Wife Geraldine, for a little more about other things he directed.
