Se-ri misses her flight out of North Korea. Instead she drives Jeong-Hyuk to the nearest hospital and stays there while is operated on and then convalesces. Seung-jun wonders what happened to Se-ri. He runs into Seo-dan in the village where Jeong-hyuk lives. She is there looking for Jeong-hyuk.
Cho Cheol-gang hears about the incident on the road. Once his people have found Jeong-hyuk he goes to the hospital to arrest him. Jeong-hyuk's father, who is a high level government official, shows up just in time to prevent Cheol-gang from arresting his son.
Se-ri sticks around as long as she dares but eventually leaves the hospital with Seung-jun, barely avoiding running into Cheol-gang. Seo-dan finds out who Se-ri really is. Se-ri's parents have her declared dead and one of her brother's placed in charge of the family business.
The episode ends with Se-ri being urged by Seung-jun, for his own selfish reasons, to stay away from Jeong-hyuk; and Jeong-hyuk being urged by Seo-dan, for her own selfish reasons, to stay away from Se-ri.
Thoughts
It's been a little over two years since I watched the previous episode. I want to finish this show. It is fairly melodramatic but I like it for the most part. It's a little confusing at times. The names sometimes trip me up. The length of the episodes have probably been the biggest thing that held me back from picking this show up again. Hopefully I will stick with it to the end this time.
This episode was almost 90 minutes long. A good deal of it took place at the hospital. Jeong-hyuk was still there when the episode ended but most everyone else had left.
There are two flashback in this episode to Switzerland. The first belongs to Jeong-hyuk and the second to Se-ri but they are interconnected.
I'm not sure how successful Seung-jun and Seo-dan's separate attempts to keep Jeong-hyuk and Se-ri apart will be. I'm sure that they will ultimately fail but I'm not sure how long it will be before Jeong-hyuk and Se-ri will be back together.
I enjoyed this episode very much. I was under the impression that somewhere around the end of the eighth episode or beginning of the ninth one the setting would shift to South Korea. I'm not so sure about that now. There was a preview at the end of this episode for the next one but honestly. I've completely forgotten everything that was in that preview.
