Age Ain't Nothing But a Number

Cynthia tells her sister about what really happened but not their mother. Tracey can't believe that Cynthia lost her virginity first.

Tracey joins a book club. She doesn't do the reading. The club organizer suggests that she pair up with someone in the book club. She does and winds up having sex with him. After sex she learns that he is only 16 years old.

Candace and Aaron get into an argument. He can't get over what she did with his father. She can't get over the fact that he is such a coward. She dares him to cut her hair. He surprises her and does it.

Everyone comes together at the of the episode at a communal gathering.

Road Trip

Tracy goes on holiday with Candice and Aaron. They don't want her to come with them but she comes anyway and brings Ola. They are going to visit Aaron's parents but when they get there they find out that his mother has just left his father.

Tracy quickly develops a crush on Aaron's father, which he does not reciprocate. Aaron's father makes fun of his son.

Tracy walks in and catches Candice and Aaron's father dry humping.

Ola spends most of the holiday with a gay couple that he meets on the train.

Orlando

Emma, Candice's nan, with some help from Candice, gets a date through an internet app. She was signed on as Candice so with some more help from Candice she gets made up to look a bit more like Candice. In other words, she dresses up in black face.

Cynthia confronts Ronald. She finds him at a local church that broadcasts its services on the internet. Ronald is not remorseful for what he did to Cynthia, in the first season. 

Tracey takes a job walking a dog, Orlando. The dog's owner is a photographer and after Tracey comes back from walking Orlando he wants to take pictures, dirty pictures, of Tracey and Orlando. Tracey leaves and takes Orlando with her.

I Just Need Some Company

Tracey feels unwanted, after meeting Emma, Connor's girlfriend. Boy Tracy, Tracey's cousin, talks her into going to a party with him. Candace and her boyfriend go with them. Tracey's mother is planning a meeting for her church in the community where she lives but gets some push back from the local government. The party that Tracey, Candace, Boy Tracy, and Candance boyfriend go to turns out to be a sex party. Tracey is conflicted but decides to go in to the party. Things don't so quite how Tracey imagined they might

Thoughts

This was a decent episode. The part with Tracey's mother was the weaker part of the episode. I was surprised by how far they pushed the envelope at the sex party.

Replacements

Tracey's mother puts conditions on her moving back in. Tracey tries to fulfill those conditions and fails miserably.

Candice tries to replace Tracey with Cynthis, Tracey's younger sister. She gives it a go but it doesn't work out.

Tracey replaces Conor with Ash, a guy she meets while trying to hand out fliers for the church where her mother worships. Ash isn't open about it, at first, but he has a fetish for black women.

Thoughts

Jonathan Bailey played the part of Ash. I have also seen him in Crashing, where he was part of the regular cast of the show.

WTF Happened?

Three months have passed since the end of Season One. Tracey has a job working in a convenience store. She hasn't seen Connor in a few months. She sees pictures of him with another woman. Connor stops by the shop. He wants to talk. She tries to make like she has a celebrity boyfriend, Stormzy. She gets help from her cousin Ola faking the celebrity boyfriend routine. 

Thoughts

It has been about six years since I watched the first season. I think it was on Netflix at the time. I took a break from Chewing Gum after I finished the first season. The show was pulled from Netflix soon after that. It's available on Hoopla now. That's how I watched this episode.

Chewing Gum 1.06

Tolled Road

Tracey moves in with Candice and Aaron. She gets Aaron's help with her scheme to out Ronald. He hits on Ronald without success but then he spots Ronald making out with another guy and gets a video of it. He sends it to Tracey who tries to show it to Cynthia but Cynthia won't look at it. Meanwhile Aaron is feeling rejected because Ronald wasn't interested in him. That was about as funny as the episode got for me.

The wedding was a bit surreal. I didn't expect Ronald to come out of the closet. Then Tracey walking off into the sunset with Conner? Not totally unexpected but weird. On the whole this episode felt like a bit of a misfire to me; maybe a bit rushed. I didn't laugh very much and I wasn't sure what to make of the ending. I will probably watch the second season but I'll probably wait before I jump back in.

The Last Supper

Tracey gets blindsided by her (male) cousin Tracy who claims to be in love with her. She tries to keep Connor a secret from her mother. Cynthia overdoses on chocolates that Connor brings over for Tracey. Ronald (the ex-boyfriend) makes an unexpected appearance or two. Everyone seems to want to let it all hang out, except Tracey who loses control of  her life.

There's a lot that happens in this episode. The way everything happens at once and is layered together are what made this episode a lot of fun and very funny. Not every joke connected with me but I loved how it all played out.

The Unicorn

Tracey makes arrangements for a threesome with Conner and another woman. The problem is that Conner sees Tracey as being too innocent and pure. He can't get it up when she wants to give him a blow job and doesn't want to think about taking her virginity. Tracey takes some advice from the other women in the apartment building and meets another woman and finds a place for the three of them to get together away from the apartment building.

Cynthia, Tracey's sister, borrows her computer and has a little adventure of her own watching internet porn while Tracey is off with Conner and the unicorn.

Not my favorite episode. There weren't any laugh out loud funny moments (for me) in this one but I chuckled several times and also cringed a few times.

Chewing Gum 1.03

Possession

Tracy quits her job at the convenience store and applies for a job at a department store. She doesn't exactly get the job but then, thinking she might have another way in, she buys drugs for a party that the owner of department store is throwing. She inadvertently swallows some of the drugs she bought, during the party, and its all downhill from there.

Candice partners with one of the other ladies from the building to try and sell stolen sex toys, mostly dildos. The catch is that the sex toys aren't new, but used.

A fun episode. I don't think I liked it quite as much as the two previous ones but I liked it.

I tried watching with the subtitles on this time. It killed the comedy. Halfway through the episode I had to turn the subtitles off. Even though I couldn't follow everything that was said it was much funnier after I turned them off.

Binned

Tracey sees Conner again, gives him a hand job, meets Mandy (Conner's mum), worries that she's pregnant, and discovers something about Ronald (her ex-boyfriend).

Solidly good in my opinion even though I couldn't understand everything said. I really should try watching this show with the closed captions turned on.

Almost every scene had something in it that at least made me smile if not laugh out loud.

Sex and Violence

Tracey is 24 and still a virgin. She has a boyfriend named Ronald. They have been together for 6 years. He is very religious and won't even kiss her. Candice, her friend, helps her get dolled up in an effort to convince Ronald it is time. He doesn't respond the way she had hoped. He freaks out when she starts taking off her clothes. Candice has some drama of her own. She wants to have rough sex with Aaron, her boyfriend, but he is very reluctant.

I've wanted to try this show since hearing about it on PCHH. I'm glad I gave it a try. I laughed quite a bit. The humor is both awkward and over the top. This is a British show and I had a little trouble understanding some of the dialogue but not so much that I couldn't enjoy the show. I'm going to have to keep watching this show.
