Better Call Saul 1.01

Uno

The opening portion of the episode takes place after Breaking Bad. Jimmy McGill has moved to Omaha and is working at a Cinnabon. He has grown a mustache and wears glasses. He looks very nervous. It is unclear how much time has passed since the last episode in Breaking Bad. This part of the episode is not in color. Once it is over the rest of the episode takes place at an unspecified point in the past, before the events of Breaking Bad, before Jimmy McGill started to use the name Saul Goodman.

Ex Machina (2015)

Caleb (Gleeson) wins the chance to spend some time with Nathan (Isaac) the boss of Blue Book, the internet search company for whom he works. He is flown to a house in the middle of a mountainous region. He is given a key card and meets Nathan.

Nathan has been developing very lifelike robots that possess artificial intelligence. He wants Caleb to interact with Ava (Vikander), his latest model. Caleb can see and talk to Ava but only through a pane of glass. Caleb and Ava interact over the course of seven days. Caleb quickly becomes suspicious of Nathan's motives. Ava warns him that Nathan is a liar.

Chapter II

Reggie is still dealing with trauma from the incident in 1.05. He doesn't know how to deal with it. He sometimes thinks he sees the security officer that pulled a gun on him but usually it's just his imagination. He goes on a bender with Troy and Kurt. They drink and get high together. He goes on a sexual bender without them after that. Troy's been getting a lot of sympathy sex since he got out of lock up and encourages Reggie to do it.

Young Justice 2.14

Runaways

Virgil, Tye, Sam, and Ed (the teens who are being kept at the STAR Labs building in Taos, NM) decide that they've had enough and break out. Newt is the only one to stay behind. He pulls the alarm just as they are getting ready to leave. Newt thinks that he and the world are better off with him at STAR Labs than out in the world. Nightwing sends Blue Beetle to recover the runaway teens.

Angie Tribeca 1.03

The Famous Ventriloquist Did It

Tribeca and Geils investigate the murder of a ventriloquist. The primary suspect is another ventriloquist, Fisher Price. They interview the dead ventriloquist's wife but she doesn't give them much to go on. Geils had a brush with ventriloquism in his past and he has to revive the act with Tribeca acting as his dummy in order for them to get close enough to Price.

Atypical 3.09

Sam Takes a Walk

Sam has to draw something that shows how he feels about a political issue, for his art class midterm. He decides to draw a picture that shows the effect of global warming on penguins. He has the house to himself because Elsa, Doug, and Casey go out of town for a track meet.

House of Games (1987)

Margaret Ford (Crouse) is a psychologist. One of her patients owes several thousand dollars to a bookie (Mantegna). She goes to see the bookie to try and talk him out of hurting her client. She gets mixed up with the bookie and it quickly becomes unclear whether she is helping him con someone or getting conned herself.

Duckman 1.04

Psyche

Duckman gets plastic surgery when he starts feeling ugly. The surgery works but it doesn't fix his problem.

Thoughts

Some of the laughs were a bit cheap but I enjoyed this one. If it wasn't for some of the outrageous sight gags this one would almost seem like an after school special.

Queen Sono 1.06

State of Emergency

Ekaterina Gromova continues to use the Watu Wema and Shandu to accomplish her goals. They break into President Malunga's home and tie him up along with two European business men who are blackmailing the president. She burns the two business men alive, douses them in gasoline and then lights them on fire. She demands that Malunga declare a state of emergency and hire Superior Solutions to "help set things right".

Shandu is shaken by what Ekaterina did but not enough to break with her. That night he goes to see Queen at her apartment. They have sex but he is gone the next morning when she wakes up.

Dear White People 2.01

Chapter I

Two weeks have passed since the town hall meeting. There was a fire at Davis Hall after the meeting but no one has officially been blamed or taken responsibility for it. The displaced residents of Davis have been moved to Armstrong-Parker.

Young Justice 2.13

The Fix

Artemis learns of Black Manta's plan to fix Kaldur'ahm. She knows that she has to do something. Black Manta leaves her to keep an eye on Psimon. Tigress knows that if Psimon gets into Kaldur's head he will learn that they are double agents. She hits him with a poison dart just as he is getting ready to go into Kaldur's mind. Psimon fights back against the drug, discovers that Tigress is really Artemis, but ultimately he is knocked out by it. Black Manta sees the fight on the monitor. He isn't sure how to proceed but Tigress has a plan. She will kidnap Miss Martian and force her to fix Kaldur.

Angie Tribeca 1.02

The Wedding Planner Did It

A baker is murdered. The only suspect is a wedding planner. Tribeca has anxiety about weddings ever since her fiance was murdered. Their best chance to catch the wedding planner is for Tribeca and Geils to ask her to plan a wedding for them.

Atypical 3.08

Road Rage Paige

Casey's happiness over kissing Izzy doesn't last too long. She's happy but then she realizes that she needs to break up with Evan. She gets grounded by Doug for trying to sneak out in the middle of the night to see Evan.

Duckman 1.03

Gripes of Wrath

Bernice forces Duckman to take his kids (Ajax, Charles, Mambo) to a Science Exposition. He inadvertently causes a supercomputer to become sentient. Loretta, the supercomputer, remakes the world and at first everything is perfect, until everything goes wrong. Loretta then decides to remake the world by wiping out all life on Earth and starting out all over again. Duckman interferes once again and causes Loretta to self destruct when he points out the paradox in Loretta's thinking.

Queen Sono 1.05

Sugar Water

Queen assaults a man in the locker room of a country club. She is hoping to get information out him, names of men who were behind the death of Safiya Sono, her mother. She doesn't get names but she does learn that other governments were involved in the decision to eliminate her mother.

Safiya was too radical, too dangerous in the eyes of those who came to power in South Africa. Queen gets some help from Fred with researching her mother. She suspects that Dr. Isaacs had something to do with the death of her mother.

Nurse Jackie 1.12

Health Care and Cinema

Eddie goes to Kevin's bar after he sees Jackie leave for the day. He hangs out and drinks a lot. Kevin and Eddie start talking and in the process of their conversations Eddie learns stuff.

Zoey is dressed in gray scrubs because she's still feeling bad about what she did to Mr. Nutterman in 1.11. The gray scrubs are bringing everyone down. They ask her to change but she doesn't want to.

Dr. O'Hara is having her mother brought over from England. She needs Jackie to help her get her into the country illegally.

Young Justice 2.12

True Colors

Atom and Bumblebee shrink and are inserted into Jaime Reyes bloodstream. They attempt to surgically remove the scarab from the inside. The scarab fights back and they are forced to abandon their mission. Jaime is stuck with the scarab for now.

Angie Tribeca 1.01

Pilot

Angie Tribeca is an LAPD detective. She and her new partner, Jay Geils, are sent to figure out who is blackmailing the mayor. He has all sorts of embarrassing tattoos. Someone has pictures of the tattoos and is threatening to make them public.

Atypical 3.07

Shrinkage

Sam is given an assignment in his philosophy which has a direct bearing on his relationship with Zahid. Sam fails to see the complexity of the situation. There is a FitBit missing from TechTropolis. Sam knows this because he is the one who performed the inventory.

Hail, Caesar! (2016)

Eddie Mannix (Brolin) has problems and has decisions to make. He is a big wheel at Capitol Pictures in the 1950s. He doesn't own the place but he runs it. One of his stats (Clooney) goes AWOL. Eddie later learns that the star was kidnapped and is being held for ransom. Eddie is also being courted by Lockheed. They've seen what he gets done at Capitol and want him on their team.

Thoughts

There was a real studio bigwig named Eddie Mannix. He worked at MGM. He was an enforcer who rose very high at MGM. Toni, his second wife, had an affair with George Reeves. That story is the subject of the film Hollywoodland.

Queen Sono 1.04

Rookie

The year is 2015 and Queen is the rookie. Shandu is still working for SOG. They are lovers. She is stuck doing desk work while he works in the field. She craves to be given a more exciting assignment.

Queen finally gets her break and is assigned to a protection detail. She and Vljoen are sent as part of the protection detail. They are guarding a meeting that Deputy President Malunga is having with some European businessmen. The men are trying to buy Malunga's influence. They want to build a nuclear power plant. Malunga isn't moving as fast as they hoped he would. They've already given him 50M Rand. The meeting ends with the businessmen walking out, angry.

Nurse Jackie 1.11

Pill-O-Matix

The new pill dispensing machine arrives. It isn't the high end model that they thought they were getting. Gloria is the one behind the decision to get the machine. She feels bad about putting Eddie out of a job. She hired him a decade before. She's working on finding him another job.

Coop breaks up with Melissa. He's only got eyes for Jackie now. Jackie tells him no but he won't listen. He buys her flowers. She returns the flowers to him only to find them on her desk later on. This time she throws them in the trash.

Young Justice 2.11

Cornered

Despero comes to Earth. He is looking for a challenge. He lands at the Hall of Justice. He wants to fight the heavy hitters from the Justice League but they aren't home. Some members of the younger team (Superboy, Miss Martian, Bumblebee, Mal, Zatanna) plus Captain Marvel are there. Despero uses his third eye to knock Zatanna out. He wants a physical fight. Captain Marvel is more than happy to take him on but he isn't much of a match for the alien. He tries using his magic lightning on Despero but then he finds himself unable to change from Billy Batson back to Captain Marvel.

Future Man 2.04

Guess Who's Coming to Lunch?

Tiger stays for lunch with Camillo and her alternate universe self, Tyanne. Tiger and Tyanne seem to get along but Tyanne doesn't like Tiger.

Josh wanders in the desert until someone from the NAG finds him. He is taken back to the NAG. Wolf spots him and introduces him to his new life. He tells Josh that the NAG is their new life and there is no way in or out but then Tiger shows up.

Atypical 3.06

The Essence of a Penguin

Sam does a great job with drawing a picture of a penguin but the next assignment for art class throws him for a loop. He is supposed to draw the essence of his animal. He doesn't understand the assignment. He doesn't understand what he is being asked to do.

Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary (2019)

This is a sentimental look back at Galaxy Quest (1999) which in turn was a look back of sorts at Star Trek: The Original Series.

It has been a few years since I last watched Galaxy Quest. I think I saw it in the theater when it was first released.

I like how this documentary examines the making of the movie from various angles. I didn't know who the director was originally going to be and had no idea who ended up directing the movie. The topics covered include the origins of the story, the casting process, the designs of the creatures and sets, what it was like on the set.
