Pine Barrens

Tony sends Paulie and Christopher to pick up some money that is owed to Silvio. Paulie gets into an argument with Valery, the guy who owes the money. A fight breaks out and they think that they've killed him. They load the body into the trunk of Paulie's car and head for the Pine Barrens to get rid of the body.

Tony is getting ready for a meeting with Slava, Valery's boss. He asks if they got the money. Tony isn't happy when Paulie tells him what happened and what they are getting ready to do. Tony tells them to make sure that no one ever finds the body.

The Investigation

A civilian committee is sent to Fort Baxter to investigate allegations that soldiers are living the good life. Sgt Bilko and Colonel Hall get wind of the visit before the committee arrives. Colonel Hall puts Bilko in charge of showing the committee around the base. He sets everything up to make it look like the soldiers have it bad.

Thoughts

This was a fun but not spectacular episode. I thought at first that Colonel Hall was in on the act but in retrospect I'm not so sure. The twist at the end makes it look like Colonel Hall is angry with Bilko.

Chapter IV

Troy's article makes the front cover of Pastiche. He's happy until he finds out, after the fact, that Kurt edited it to the point that it completely changed the message. He confronts Kurt, in front of all the writers on staff.

Justice League 2.07.B

Eclipsed - Part 2

The police interrogate General McCormick but fail to get any useful information from him. He doesn't remember what he did or why he did it. Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, and the Flash leave the police station and are attacked by Mophir, who instantly recognizes that Wonder Woman is possessed by the Black Diamond. He stops her and is about to kill her when the Flash intervenes.

Eclipsed - Part 1

A fire team of soldiers looking for someone named Fassan finds something else, an ancient evil. The evil is in the form of a purple jewel. It is guarded by Mophir, a man with long gray hair, but the soldiers overcome him. Burns, one of the soldiers, takes the jewel while the others aren't looking. Something ethereal emerges from the jewel and takes possession of Burns' mind.

The Last Dance 1.09

Episode IX

The Chicago Bulls and the Indiana Pacers met in the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals. The Bulls had home court advantage and won the first two games in Chicago. The Pacers came back and won game 3 by two. The Pacers came from behind to win game 4 but almost lost it on a last second three point shot by Jordan which almost went in. The series then went back to Chicago tied 2-2.

Memories of the Blue Planet

The Yamato nears Earth but two members of the crew, Commander Okita and Yuki, are both in very bad shape. Yuki is in a coma after getting shot in the previous episode. The doctor doesn't think she will survive. Executive Officer Sanada has her placed in the stasis capsule that held Yurisha.

Commander Okita's health continues to get worse. Yuki wakes up but she is only awake long enough to say Susumu Kodai's name and then dies. Susumu is distraught over losing her but he puts on a brave face and goes to the wedding of a couple of his friends.

Hollywood

Sgt Bilko is sent to Hollywood by the Pentagon as a technical advisor to Cecil D. Chadwick Productions. The studio is making a movie about the Battle of Kombuchi called Love in a Foxhole. Bilko is a veteran of the battle. The studio doesn't really want his input and tries to run him off the lot but Bilko is a little too slick for them. He threatens to call the Hollywood press and tell them how the studio has been treating him if they don't let him stick around.

Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis), and Melvin (Isiah Whitlock Jr.) return together to Vietnam, decades after they served there during the war, to find the remains of their squad leader and recover a stash of gold. David (Jonathan Majors), Paul's son, comes along with them despite his father's reluctance. They hire Vinh, a local whom they don't tell about the gold, to get them close to the spot where they believe Stormin' Norman, their squad leader, and the gold will be found.

Replay

Static tangles with Johnny Morrow, a former child TV star who is still angry that Johnny on the Spot, his show, got canceled. Johnny has metahuman powers and he uses them to rob the Dakota Mall. Virgil, Richie, and Daisy happen to be there while it is happening. Virgil fakes indigestion and then runs into the men's room and changes.

Static quickly finds out about Johnny Morrow aka Replay's special ability. He can make duplicates of himself. Replay and Static fight and somewhere in the midst of it all Replay accidentally creates a duplicate of Static. Replay escapes with the clone of Static and proceeds to get the Static clone to commit robberies all over town. Everyone, even Richie, thinks that Static is to blame.

Brooke is trying has written a couple articles but she needs Lionel to edit them. She has trouble chasing him down.

Star Blazers 2199 1.25

The Forever War

Two months have passed since the Yamato left Iskandar and started the journey back to Earth. The Yamato heads for the Balun System. They stop along the way to help a Gamilan ship that is stranded. The crew of the Yamato have plans to use the gate to jump 60,000 light years back towards Earth. They are surprised to find the the system has been decimated but the gate is still there.

A Gamilan fleet led by Admiral Goer has laid a trap for the Yamato. The Gamilans attack just as the Yamato is getting ready to jump through the gate. The attack is countered by the Gamilan dimensional submarine which has been sent by Admiral Ditz to hunt down Admiral Goer. The Yamato escapes through the gate while the dimensional submarine deals with Goer's flagship.

The Rich Kid

The platoon gets a new soldier, Private Vandermeer. Bilko finds out that Vandermeer is loaded. He's worth $200 million. Bilko has everyone treat Vandermeer nice in the hopes that he will return the favor, with money.

Thoughts

Not great but not bad. This one feels like it has a thread that runs all the way through it. I smiled a lot but I didn't laugh as much as I hoped I would. 

The Last Dance 1.08

Episode VIII

The Bulls played the Charlotte Hornets in the second round of the 1998 NBA playoffs. The Bulls won the first game by 13 but the Hornets came back and won the second game by 2. They make a big deal in the episode about how BJ Armstrong, who was playing at the time for the Hornets, was the key to them winning the game but he attempted 8 shots and hit four of them. He did not lead his team in scoring.

They make a lot in this episode about how BJ Armstrong's game winning shot motivated Michael. I think they spend too much time on talking about it. It feels like filler, especially as this topic comes up on a regular basis, how Jordan was motivated to play harder by x, y, or z.

The Leeches

Warren Doneghan, the owner of Jet Age Electronics (JAE), hires David Vincent to help him. Several other big name scientists have disappeared. Doneghan fears that he is next and that the aliens that David speaks of are behind the scheme. David encourages Warren to allow himself to be kidnapped. 

The Sopranos 3.10

To Save Us All from Satan's Power

Christmas is coming. Pussy used to play Santa Claus at the party that they would throw for the neighborhood kids. They have to find someone else to play the part. Silvio and Paulie suggest that Tony should do it but he says no. Bobby winds up getting the job, against his will.

Tony has a few flashbacks to 1995. Jackie Aprile was still around, running the show. Pussy was already compromised but they didn't know, at the time. He was sent to Boca Raton to broker a meeting between Uncle Junior and Jackie. Tony realizes in retrospect that all Pussy's excuses at the time were cover ups for meetings he was probably having with FBI agents.

NewsRadio 4.04

Super Karate Monkey Death Car

Andrea, the efficiency expert, makes everyone take a polygraph test. Lisa has something to hide, a criminal record.

Mr. James invites Dave to a reading of his book which is a big hit in Japan. He's had it translated back into English but he doesn't get a chance to proof the retranslated book before the reading.

Thoughts

Dave Allen, whom I know best for his role as the guidance counselor on Freaks and Geeks, plays an employee of the book store. He also shows up in an episode from season 5.

Chapter II

Reggie pressures Joelle to make a public statement about their relationship. She does and then he proceeds to avoid her for a couple days. He hibernates in his room and plays video games. She needs his help working on the by-laws for the Black Caucus but he stays away until it is too late to help out.

Aftershock

Virgil and Richie run into Francis, unexpectedly, and discover that he too has developed super powers. Francis' powers allow him to genereate and throw flames. Virgil changes into Static and takes on Francis, who doesn't have a uniform but calls himself Hot Streak. Static is losing the fight when some firemen step in and hose Hot Streak down.

A Night in Casablanca (1946)

Ronald Kornblow (Grouncho) is hired to replace the murdered manager of a hotel in Casablanca. He spends most of his time chasing after Bea (Lisette Verea) who is working for Stubel (Sig Ruman), a Nazi. Rusty (Harpo) and Corbaccio (Chico) keep Kornblow out of trouble and spend their spare time searching for the stolen treasures that are rumored to be hidden in the hotel. Stubel decides that Kornblow needs to be killed and gets Bea to set a trap for him.

The Distant Promised Land

The Yamato arrives on Iskandar. Starsha greets them. She lives alone on Iskandar. Everyone else is dead. The humans came to Iskandar to get the Cosmo Reverser, the technology to restore Earth, but Starsha has second thoughts about giving it to them after she learns that they turned the Wave Motion Engine into a weapon.

The crew of the Yamato relaxes on Iskandar while they wait in the hopes that Starsha will change her mind. Kodai learns that his brother was captured by the Gamilans. The ship his brother was on crash landed on Iskandar. His brother survived the crash but died long before the Yamato arrived. He left a message for the crew of the Yamato.

Reunion

Bilko goes to a reunion for a unit that he served with 10 years before in the Pacific during World War II. He is surprised to learn that all the guys who used to serve under him are now successful businessmen. He hides the fact that he is still in the Army, at first, even though he has made it to the rank of master sergeant. He is surprised to discover, once he does come clean and tells the truth, that they are all impressed with him and still respect him.

This episode felt sloppy and underdeveloped. It has an arc but it wasn't satisfying. There was too much in it considering the time allotted.

The Last Dance 1.07

Episode VII

The Chicago Bulls opened the 1998 playoffs by playing the New Jersey Nets in Chicago. The Nets led most of the way but the Bulls wun the game by 3 points.

James Jordan, Michael Jordan's father, was murdered in July 1993. Michael Jordan announced his retirement from the NBA in August 1993. Rumors swirled around that this was ordered by the head of the NBA, David Stern.

The Telltale Moozadell

Carmella's family surprises her on her birthday. Tony gets her an expensive ring with a big stone. AJ gets her the DVD of the Matrix. Meadow gets her a gift certificate for a spa. There is a party at the house in her honor that night. Her parents and Janice are also there. Jackie Aprile, Jr. shows up. He's really there to pick up Meadow but he brought a bottle of wine as a present for her mother.

Christopher and Furio take over a nightclub. Chris turns it over to Adriana to run. She is very happy. A young drug dealer gets kicked out on opening night. He goes to his friend who in turn goes to Jackie Jr. for help. Jackie Jr. agrees to help him out.

Shock to the System

Virgil Hawkins was just a regular teenager. He had a crush on Frieda Goren, one of his classmates, but was too indecisive to ask her to the dance. He got on the bad side of F-Stop, the school bully. Wade, another classmate, protected Virgil but then insisted that he join his gang.

Virgil gets caught in the middle of a fight between the two gangs. He gets doused in chemicals at the rumble and develops superpowers that allow him to shoot lightning bolts from his hands and control objects magnetically. Virgil puts together a costume with the help of his friend Richie and becomes a superhero. Virgil also uses his powers to help and impress Frieda.

The season begins with Sam, Lionel, and the Narrator, right were the previous season ended. The story then flashes forward 3 months. 

Jewel of the Nile (1985)

Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) grows tired of Jack Colton (Michael Douglas) and runs off with Omar, who turns out to be more sinister than she realized. Jack comes after her, after he runs into Ralph (Danny DeVito). The two men work together to find her and the Jewel of the Nile, which Omar has in his possession. They learn about the jewel from Tarak, who helps them get close to Omar's house.

Jack and Ralph get separated. Jack is reunited with Joan who has found the jewel. The jewel isn't a precious stone but Al-Julhara, a holy man. Jack, Joan, and Al-Julhara run from Omar. They are also pursued by Ralph, Tarak and his followers. 

Star Blazers 2199 1.23

One Man's War

The Yamato survives the trap thanks to the Wave Motion Shields. It heads straight for the planet Gamila where it crashes into the royal palace.

Desler and some of his followers escape in a rocket. They head for a massive auxiliary war ship which is near Gamila. Once he is aboard the massive ship he sets a course back to Gamila. He plans to crash the war ship into the capital of Gamila which will destroy the Yamato, the capital, and all his subjects who are still there.

Kodai launches a mission, with Commander Okita's permission, to save Yuki. Yurisha goes with him. They get some help from Melda and other pilots who provide cover fire while they head for the giant Gamilan war ship.

Doctor Who (1963) 14.04.04

Face of Evil - Part 4

The power flickers and the Tesh, who were closing in on Leela, get scared off by it. Leela rushes into Xoanon's room with one of the weapons the Tesh left behind and pulls the Doctor to safety. Xoanon isn't beat yet. He electrifies the walls and makes one of the Tesh attack the Doctor. The Tesh hits an electrified wall and is killed.

Calib, Tomas, Neeva, and what's left of the Sevateem enter the complex. Jabel orders the Tesh to fall back. His plan is to lead the Sevateem into a trap. The Doctor almost gets killed by Leela, on more than one occasion, after Xoanon takes over her mind temporarily. Xoanon sets the reactor to overload. The Doctor tries to stop the mad computer by excising the part of Xoanon's personality that came from him.

She-Ra and the Princesses of Power 3.06

The Portal

Adora searches for a way to put an end to the destructive course of action Catra has set into motion. She goes to find Glimmer and Bo. They don't remember her at first. Glimmer is just a princess and Bo is a librarian. There is no Princess Alliance. King Micah is alive. Glimmer senses that something is wrong and breaks into the room where her parents have locked up Adora. They trust her and together they go to look for answers.

Adora, Glimmer, and Bow go to see Entrapta. Adora's words make sense to Entrapta. She remembers, just like Glimmer and Bow, once Adora jogs her memory. Entrapta disappears before she can give them any help but she does tell Adora that she is at the center of the problem because it is her sword that is powering the portal. She warns Adora that once she enters the portal to retrieve the sword she will be trapped there.

The Invaders 1.03

The Mutation

David Vincent searches for a disabled alien spacecraft in Arizona near the Mexican border. He is being watched by Fellows, an Air Force Intelligence officer and gets some help from Evans, a freelance reporter, and Vikki, a stripper. He doesn't realize it then but Evans and Vikki are aliens.

Executioners from Shaolin (1977)

Hung Hsi-kuan flees the Shaolin temple when his teacher is killed by the villainous Pai Mei. Hsi-kuan comes back for revenger more than a decade later after going into hiding, getting married and having a son. Hsi-Kuan is unsuccessful in his attempt to kill Pai Mei but he manages to escape. He trains for several more years before taking another stab at killing Pai Mei.

Happiest Season (2020)

Abby goes to her girlfriend's home for Christmas. Abby doesn't learn until they are almost there that Harper lied about telling her parents that she is gay. Harper's father is running for mayor. Abby agrees to keep their relationship a secret from Harper's parents for the five days that they will be there. Her family thinks that Abby is just Harper's roommate.

Everything that could possibly go wrong does. There all sorts of double entendres. Abby meets Riley (Aubrey Plaza), Harper's first girlfriend, and Connor, her boyfriend from high school. Harper spends more time with Connor than with Abby. It gets to be too much for Abby to take. She is ready to leave when everything blows up towards the end.

He Is Risen

Ralph Cifaretto is still angry at Tony for hitting him after he killed one of the dancers in 3.06 (University). Tony asks Ralph to have a drink with him but Ralph refuses. Ralph thinks Tony owes him an apology. Ralph and Rosalie Aprile are supposed to come over for dinner on Thanksgiving. Tony doesn't want him there. He tells Carmella to uninvite them. Carmella doesn't like it but she does it. She makes up a story about having to cancel Thanksgiving because her father is sick. Word gets back to Ralph about it.
