What Are Little Girls Made Of?
Captain Kirk and Nurse Chapel beam down to Exo-III to meet Doctor Roger Korby, her long lost fiancé. Captain Kirk calls the Enterprise and asks them to send down two security guards when he senses that something is amiss. It isn't long before both security guards are dead and Captain Kirk and Nurse Chapel find themselves in danger.
Doctor Korby with some help from Rok, an android he found on Exo-III, built a couple androids to help him. One of the androids is a replica of Korby's former assistant, Doctor Brown, the other is a scantily clad female presenting android named Andrea.
Doctor Korby creates an android duplicate of Captain Kirk and uses it to attempt to take control of the Enterprise. It has all of Kirk's knowledge and memories. Mr. Spock figures out that something is up while interacting with the android duplicate of Kirk.
Nurse Chapel stays loyal to her fiancé until it is revealed that he too is an android duplicate of the original Roger Korby. Korby destroys Ruk when he refuses to obey an order and theatens Korby. Andrea destroys the android duplicate of Kirk thinking he is the real Captain Kirk. Korby destroys himself and Andrea after being rejected by Nurse Chapel due to the fact that he is not the Roger Korby she knew but an android duplicate.
Thoughts
Most of this episode takes place in the tunnels beneath Exo-III. There were some scenes set on the Enterprise but not many. I think that might be a first.
Ruk was played by Ted Cassidy. He is best known to me for playing Lurch on the Addams Family
There is one scene with a phallic looking stalagtite that made me laugh. The way Kirk holds it and the shape of it were just too much. That has to have been intentional.
I was kind of surprised at how minimal Andrea's top was considering when this show was made.
The elements were here for a better story but the way it was all wrapped up so neatly in the last five minutes left a bad taste in my mouth.
